This week, I invite you to step back in time : Hoi An Old Town : Vietnam : 2 of 2 posts

What's good my blogging pals?

As promised yesterday, in this article I have presented, the second in the series of photos taken while in Hoi An, Vietnam, the other day.

In the modern world, there are many ways to experience time. But one less common way of experiencing time is by walking backwards. That’s right, making a ‘strategic’ mistake and veering off the path to the right. This may sound like a mistake, but this is actually a wonderful feeling and will lead you to a place you never imagined! You might be asking, how does one walk backwards through time Well, if you haven’t figured it out yet, no problem it's quite easy.

You go to a place that is old, find a quiet place to sit for a moment, don't be in any rush, but sit and meditate, look at the world around you, and take a breath. Close your eyes for a minute, and then just sit there. After little bit open your eyes and think to yourself you are back in that time. You'll find yourself transplanted back in time. The first step backwards might be a little tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it. Just don't forget to come back to the present. ;) kaka.

Let's get to some of the photos!

The Daily Photos

Speaking of time traveling, I find doors to be one way to travel back in time. They are the threshold, the gateway into lives outside of lines. Some Inuit cultures in the Pacific Northwest, believe the home is a living creature, and you enter in its mouth every evening, and then exits mouth every morning. It is a living creature for you to exist with. Doorways are a remarkable pathway and windoows into the past.

Like this tiny door right here, perhaps a bit too tiny for me, but someone must live there, and this little alleyway, maybe a little person, made a really fat person who stuck... I don't know.

20211028_165429-01.jpeg

Like this weathered fence to keep potential thieves out but lets the mice come in. I always wonder how many times it has been opened and closed, and how many criminals that it has thwarted.

20211028_165232-01.jpeg

Turquoise blue with hot yellow walls, orange handrails above, What is it like to live in a house with those bright colors, to experience that sort of rainbow every day... I wonder if it would make you crazy or happy.

20211028_165254-01.jpeg

Always another way to experience time dilation I believe, as to venture down alleyways. These bits of the city are often overlooked and still have nostalgia.

Sitting at the waters edge watching the city, watch me, as we reflect on each other.

20211028_162205-01.jpeg

while above towering buildings, roaming the streets with their mouths open waiting for you to enter into their belly.

Hoi An was also experiencing flooding while I was here, and some sidewalks just disappeared into the river. It reminded me a lot of Venice, and reminded me a lot of rising waters and global catastrophes.

However life goes on, people bike, people play .. Just another day

20211028_164911-01.jpeg

The nostalgic memory also happens at night when the city starts to get dark, lamp posts flicker on, the sky darkens.

20211028_173332-01.jpeg

The few restaurants that are open, shine like an oasis for the weary traveler, beckoning like a moth to the flame.

20211028_173353-01.jpeg

I think it's time to bid farewell to the city for now, but come back to take more photos later on.

20211028_173339-01.jpeg

There is a long road to ride to get home ahead, must travel back to the future and my life that is up the road.

Part 2 certainly didn't let us down. Beautiful shots, wild to see the waters taking over like that. Is the city near or below sea level, and/or were these shots taken during a time of flooding? I hope to one day spend more time in Vietnam than just arriving at the airport and heading for the Cambodian border. I tried tourism once upon a time, but a series of bad experiences in a short amount of time sent me running back to Cambodia.

Hoi An sure seems like a place I need to add to the list of places to visit when/if I can go some day.
