Hey there, friends! I’m Jo — short for Jorelyn Lerasan, but you can just call me Jo (it’s much easier to remember, right?).
Let me start by telling you something you might find a little funny: I am absolutely obsessed with swimming. Like, I get excited at the thought of crystal-clear water, the feeling of cool waves brushing against my skin, and just the whole vibe of being by the beach. I get that rush of energy every time I see a pool or the ocean, and I’ll always be the first one to say, “Let’s go to the beach!” even if it's pouring rain. The sea calls me, and I'm here for it.
But here's the catch... I can’t swim. Seriously, I’ve tried, I’ve attempted to take lessons, and every time, I end up looking like a fish out of water (pun intended). Whilanguagele I’ve got the enthusiasm of a professional swimmer, my actual skills… well, let’s just say they could use a little work. If you threw me into the deep end, I’d be flailing my arms in slow motion, and trust me, you’d want a lifeguard on standby. So, yeah, I’m all about that “I love swimming” energy, but when it comes to actual swimming? Not so much.
Despite my inability to swim, I can’t stay away from the water. The beach, the poolside, even rivers — there's just something about the water that calms me and brings me peace. It’s like the world pauses for a moment when you’re near it. I’m the type to stand at the shore, dip my toes in, and feel like I’m in my element, even though I know full well I’m not going past knee-deep. (Baby steps, right?)
If you ever catch me on a beach day, I’ll be there with a huge smile, possibly with a beach towel, a cute sun hat, and a camera to snap 500 pictures of the waves crashing — because I’m still in awe of how beautiful it all is. Also, you can bet I’ll be posting those pics on my Instagram for my "living my best life" vibe.
Okay, enough about my beach day fantasies. Let me tell you a bit more about me, because life is more than just pretending I’m a mermaid (though, honestly, I could do that for hours).
I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education — fancy, right? You’d think I’d be in a classroom somewhere, helping shape young minds, but life threw me a curveball. I found myself diving into the BPO world, and one year turned into two, then three, and now, well… it’s been quite a ride! I never expected to stay in the BPO industry this long, but hey, it’s been a great learning experience. It’s a fast-paced environment, and it keeps me on my toes. But even though I’m not in the classroom, I’m still teaching in my own way, sharing lessons in life, creativity, and how to embrace the chaos with a smile.
Outside of work, I’m an artist. I create portraits using all sorts of mediums — pencils, paints, and yes, even digital art. It’s my escape, my way of expressing everything that’s hard to put into words. I also do tattoos — yep, you heard that right. If you ever need a piece of art you can carry with you forever (literally), I’ve got you covered. I’m all about bringing a little art into everyday life.

But hey, it’s not all about creativity for me. I’m also into fitness. Not in the “I’m going to the gym five times a week and lifting weights the size of my head” way, but more like, "I want to feel good and be strong enough to carry all the cute stuff I impulsively buy." (Seriously, if it’s tiny and adorable, I can’t resist.) Working out is my way of staying grounded — it clears my mind and keeps me energized for everything else I love doing. And let’s be real: It feels pretty good to lift something heavy when you’ve spent the last hour scrolling online and adding things to your cart.
And speaking of impulsive purchases… let’s just say I have a slight obsession with cute things. It doesn’t matter if it’s a small plushie, a cute mug, or even stationery that I totally don’t need but can’t live without — I’m buying it. It’s a problem, I know. But if it makes me happy, why not, right?
Now, here’s where I get serious (but not too serious). I’m new to this amazing community, and I’m super grateful to @Antonette for introducing me to it. She walked me through the community's rules and policies of posting in which I fully understand and will abide especially the prohibition of using AI. I have also noted how important it is to engage in the community, which is not hard for me as I love meeting and connecting with people.
From here, I can assure the personalized and originality of my future post, together with my personally captured photos, which will be enhanced with the help of Canva.
I’ve joined this space because I want to meet people who share similar interests — whether it's art, travel, fitness, or just having random, fun conversations. I think we all have something special to share, and if I can inspire even one person with my quirky adventures, art, or just my approach to life, I’ll feel like I’ve done something right.

With your passion, feel ko tlga you'll learn to swim soon and even try diving. I've seen so many amazing videos on TikTok of divers who can hold their breath for so long and swim happily with the fishes, without fearing that a shark might show up. ikaw na yan soonnnn

Sorry for low upvote, but ASEAN Hive is a self-powered grassroots community, and because of that we have limited HP for voting. At the moment there are more Filipinas onboarded by Antonette posting in ASEAN Hive than total members. I am not sure how to handle the influx at this point. I have tried reaching out to Antonette and encouraging her to start her own community for all the newbies she is onboarding. I haven't heard anything and it doesn't seem she's active on Hive much.
It seems strange to endlessly onboard people and not guide them in some way, or at least be active on the same platform. Please avoid AI and plagiarism as this has been a problem with some of Antonette's onboardees. Cheers and good luck.
