RE: Thailand is going to reopen Oct 1st ... Covid or not

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY3 years ago

Due to our youngest daughters' passport approaching expiration, my family is going to have to leave Suriname for Cambodia (or Cambodia adjacent) within the next two months. Her passport expires in early June of next year, but there are so many difficulties once your passport has less than 6 months on it.

Cambodia still hasn't made official announcements about their reopening plan, but it looks like next month will only be open to South Korea and Chinese tourists, so that still leaves us unsure if we can return to Cambodia together.

If Thailand stays true to its word, it may be a pre-Cambodia option for us, along with Phu Quoc, which is the just off the coast of Kampot, Cambodia, where we used to live. Fingers crossed, we're gonna have to pull the trigger on plane tickets very soon.

awww man, the stress you guys must be going through. It really is a shame that exceptions can't be made for families. It is quite shocking to me that there aren't any options for you. Don't governments have any empathy at all? Don't they also have family?

It's all a bit upsetting, but we have plan to buy a bigger and better Piaggio Ape with a 400cc diesel engine and with a bigger cargo area. I'll also stock up on camping gear in the USA, and when I return we will go exploring and camping while Hive-blogging about it until we've had enough fun and adventure.

Being stranded abroad as long as we have, our future camping and exploring adventures may go on for months or years. We need adventure in our lives again.
