Happy Friday Hivers!
Before our company’s founding anniversary last October 27, 2025, the HR personnel was called by management for a meeting. The founding anniversary was also designated as our team-building activity, and during the meeting, management emphasized that HR should carefully observe the employees during the games in order to identify their training needs.
Team-building is not just for fun, it is an opportunity for HR to observe employees in action and identify exactly what trainings are needed to improve the entire workforce.

In every game, we in HR made sure to take note of the weaknesses and strengths we observed among the employees. And we cannot deny that one of the major weaknesses is communication. There are many instances in actual work settings where mistakes happen because instructions are not delivered clearly, or the person receiving the instructions does not listen carefully or does not properly understand what was conveyed.

In other games, we were also able to clearly see which employees had strong problem-solving skills and who had weaknesses in that area. Even if a person is naturally quiet, someone with a high level of problem-solving ability will still stand out because they actively share ideas with their teammates and help plan effective strategies to solve the challenge given.

During the activities, it became evident which employees demonstrated strong leadership qualities and who needed further development. Those with natural leadership skills were able to guide their team effectively, delegate tasks appropriately, and keep the group focused on the objective. They showed confidence in decision-making and maintained composure even during challenging or time-pressured situations.
Meanwhile, some employees appeared hesitant to lead or struggled to provide direction. Others found it difficult to communicate their ideas clearly, which affected the team’s coordination. These observations indicate that leadership training would be beneficial, especially in the areas of communication, initiative, and decision-making.

Looking back, I realize that the founding anniversary was more than just a celebration, it became a chance for us in HR to really observe the team in action. From the games, we saw communication gaps, problem-solving strengths, and leadership potential in ways that no regular workday could reveal. It reminded me that every activity, every interaction, mattered, and that our role as HR wasn’t just to watch, but to understand and guide.
