Visit Wat Nantaram, Fang District, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Enjoy the many architecture and sculptures in the temple.

Hello everyone. I've told everyone about the district where I live that there are many temples. Each village has a village temple and I visited many of these temples. In this post, I will recommend and take everyone to visit 1 more temple in the district where I live. This temple is called Wat Nantharam. Before taking everyone to see the atmosphere of this temple. I would like to share a brief history of the temple first.

Wat Nantharam has no information on when this temple was built. But the temple was allowed to be established as a temple in A.D. 1917 (106 years old). And the temple received royal granting of the land to this particular temple by announcing in royal decree in A.D. 1978. In addition, Wat Nantharam has been praised by the department of religion, ministry of culture as an example development temple in A.D. 1999.

The temple is located in San Sai Subdistrict, Fang District. If everyone wants to travel to this temple. You have to journey from Mueang Chiang Mai District on Highway 107 to Fang District. When you arrive at Fang District. You must journey on the highway until you reach the Fang bypass road intersection. And go straight about 500 meters to the temple. Wat Nantharam is located along the highway, on the left.

This trip, I traveled with my wife and granddaughter. I drove my wife and granddaughter from home to Wat Nantharam. This temple is about 18 kilometers from our home. We have been to this temple a long time ago. This time is to visit this temple again. But this time we walked around and I took detailed photos of the entire temple area, To share the atmosphere of the temple with everyone in this post.

When arriving at this temple. We will see the large temple entrance arch first. The entrance arch is made of bricks plastered with cement. And area top the entrance arch resembles the roof of a buddha image hall (viharn) or ordination hall (ubosot).

On the left wall of the temple there is the large name plate of the temple and on the right wall there is a plate praising the temple as an example temple for development. And on the wall between the entrance, on the left and right there are two lion sculptures.

When we entered the temple. We see a lot of architecture and sculptures in the temple.
The first highlight is the ordination hall (ubosot). The ordination hall (ubosot) is made of bricks plastered with cement, decorated with color gold Lanna style stucco patterns.
And on the railing of the stairs entrance to the ordination hall (ubosot) is a serpent sculpture with color gold stucco patterns.
In addition, this ordination hall (ubosot) also has a wall surrounding the ordination hall (ubosot). On that day, there was a craftsman carving stucco patterns on the wall.

Second highlight : the buddha image hall (viharn). The buddha image hall (viharn) is made of bricks plastered with cement and painted white, decorated with gold and blue Lanna style stucco patterns. On the railing of the stairs entrance to the buddha image hall (viharn) is a serpent sculpture with color gold stucco patterns.

Third highlight : The park to study hell according to buddhist beliefs. This park area has many sculptures about hell according to buddhist beliefs. For tourists to see and study about Buddhist hell. And the most striking sculpture in the park is the tall and large hungry ghost sculpture.

Fourth highlight : pagoda. The pagoda is made of bricks plastered with cement and painted gold. The polyhedral-shaped pagoda with bell-shaped pagoda top. And has a square foundation, where the foundation of the pagoda is a large room.
On the railing of the stairs at the entrance to the large square room, which is the foundation of the pagoda, are two three-headed serpent sculptures.

In addition, there are many buddhist sculptures surrounding the pagoda too.

Highlight number five : A large reclining buddha statue. A large reclining buddha image is inside a large pavilion. Inside this pavilion there are also 3 buddha statues too. The all 3 buddha images are buddha images in the attitude of subduing mara. And the railing leading up to the pavilion has a dragon sculpture.

In addition, inside the pavilion, there are stairs. This staircase can walk to the pagoda.

Sixth highlight : Bell tower. This bell tower is a cement bell tower decorated with beautiful patterns.

Seventh highlight : Other buildings in the temple. I'm not sure what these buildings are. But I think it's a beautiful building.

Eighth highlight : The atmosphere inside the temple. The atmosphere inside this temple is quiet and shady with many large trees. And there are also many flowers too.

These are the all stories and photos of Wat Nantharam I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to watch and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗

I've been to this temple many times. It is the only one I have ever been to that has such a graphic depiction of the "hell" that people who live evil lives will face later. Some of those statues are really gruesome and strike fear into the hearts of people.
