Visit Wat Sa Chattan, Chiang Mai, Thailand.

in ASEAN HIVE COMMUNITY13 days ago

Hello everyone.😊
This post I would like to share and take everyone to see a temple in Chiang Mai again. This temple is called Wat Sa Chattan. Wat Sa Chattan is another temple with outstanding northern (Lanna) style architecture. The location of the temple is in Mae Rim Subdistrict, which is an urban area of Chiang Mai. The temple is in an alley. (Ban Nong Ab Chang). Inside the alley before reaching the temple there is the gold color pillars. On the pillars is a bird statue. This bird is one of the mythological creatures in Thailand. And before I take everyone to see the atmosphere inside the temple, I would like to share information about this temple.

Brief information about the temple.
Wat Sa Chattan is a medium sized common monastery in the province. The original name of the temple was called Wat Nong Ab Chang. Same name as the village. And changed the name to Wat Sa Chattan until now.
Additionally, this temple is quite old, Built in AD 1852 or 172 years ago. And the temple received royal granting of the land to a particular temple by announcing in royal decree in AD 1950 or 73 years ago.

The temple sign make from simple wooden.

Ths atmosphere of the temple.
When my wife and I arrived at Wat Sa Chattan. Before we enter the temple. We were fascinated by the large angel and elephant statues that stood between the entrances to the temple. And the white walls of the temple outstanding too. Although there is no entrance arch.

When we enter the temple, there will be an outdoor courtyard. The temple's outdoor courtyard has many architecture and sculptures. Of course we enjoyed and were fascinated by these architectures and sculptures. What architecture and sculptures are there? Let's go.

The large elephant statues.
Two large elephant statues are in front of the buddha image hall (viharn). The unique feature of these elephant statues is that they have 3 heads, which look outstanding.

In addition, under the two three-headed elephant statues, there is a small pond. Inside the pond there are many fish too.

The buddha image hall (viharn).
This buddha image hall (viharn) is built in Lanna style (Northern Thailand). Decorated with Lanna style stucco patterns on the windows, doors and front of the temple. And the front of the buddha image hall (viharn) is also decorated with oil paintings.

The stairs to the entrance to this buddha image hall (viharn) are serpent stairs like other temples.

The ordination hall (ubosot).
This ordination hall (ubosot), I think, is the highlight of the temple. The ordination hall (ubosot) is built in the original Lanna style, which has a unique and original Lanna style that is clear and fascinating. And different from temples in the central region in the country.

The pagoda.
This pagoda is on the side of the ordination hall (ubosot). The pagoda of this temple is an old pagoda. The chedi is built in the Lanna style and is polygonal in shape. The top is shaped like a bell with tierred umbrella.

And around the pagoda there are many buddha images.

Many buddha images in the outdoor courtyard.

Additionally there are pavilions, monks' houses, and buildings for monks. Which I didn't take pictures. These are the stories and photos of Wat Sa Chattan I want to share for this post. Invite everyone to see and enjoy my stories and photos. Have a great day. See you next time. Thank you for your support and visiting my post. Bye 🤗

I was really impressed by your post today, such as the view of the beautiful roads, such beautiful pure architecture. But what I like best are the three-headed elephant scenes, how beautifully they are framed and posed. Of course the fish scenes also attracted me, along with your photographs. Thank you very much

As I read your post, I remember my Music and Arts subject. Thailand was part of it. Thank you for sharing.
