Hi hi.. it is me @luueetang. These are different vegetables that can be found in Miri, Sarawak. Have you seen them before? Do comment if you have and which is your favourite? They have really unique names.
THE KANGKONG
Usually, stir fried with garlic.. A simple vegetable to cook. Vegetables are great for health. Producers (vegetables) produce the highest amount of energy.
KACANG BUNCIS
A kilo of these shorter versions of long bean are 9.99 MYR which is around 2.50 USD / KG . These are quite crunchy. Taste similar to long beans.
KANCANG PANJANG / LONG BEANS
Long beans are delicious. I love eating long beans. They are the longer versions of kacang buncis. My mom in law grows them at her house.
Carrots
Fresh carrots that are great for the eyes. Nice to look at too. Simply delicious. Great to blend in juice. These are fresh from the farm.
LABU AIR PANJANG / Long water gourd
These are usually used to be sliced into small bits and boiled in soup.
GINGER / OLD GINGER
Ginger slices increase the spiciness level in soup or in any vegetable dishes without the need for too much chilli. I am not a super chilli lover. My mom usually adds ginger slices to her delicious chicken soup. They give the soup a spicy taste. Add some wine and delicious chicken soup.
SAWI BUNGA
So many delicious types of vegetables to eat. What is your favourite. My tortoises are also great fans of vegetables.
CHINESE EGGPLANT
I am definitely not an eggplant person. My favourite members love egg plant. The egg plant has this really soft texture. It's beautiful to look at. Purplish.
Bitter gourd
Bitter gourd with century egg. Delicious. These can be fried with salted egg in my last post of bizzare food of Sarawak. There are still a lot of Sarawakian vegetables that have not been mentioned here. I think there could be hundreds. The great blessing of being in the tropical region of the world if you don't mind the mosquitoes. They are everywhere. They are hidden from plain site. But they strike like invincible ninjas.
I think you miss out Bidin or Paku which are very Sarawakian.
