The usage of plastic is a double-edged sword situation indeed. Take your post for example. While the volunteers collected the waste plastics on the beach, they wore plastic raincoats to protect themselves from getting wet. The irony. Anyway, I applaud your effort to do the coastal cleanup. I fully support it and think it should be practiced worldwide.
One of the activities that is certainly too good that you show today because maintaining cleanliness is one thing that of course we must do not only at sea but as other places, salute to activities like this.
We need more volunteers in cleaning up our environment and less of those who would just throw their non-biodegradable waste in the surroundings.

The numbers are good. Unfortunately, only a very small percentage of this would be willing to participate.
Personally, I believe that the first step in the clean up is to convince people to dispose of their trash properly. I've been seeing a lot of educational posts and videos about the negative impact of non-biodegradable trash but it seems most just don't care. I just don't know how to convince them.

This is such a great initiative and I hope it will continue to last until it becomes a habit of the people everyday to be mindful of their trash.
I remembered when I was in high school, I was in the Young Community Helpers Club and we go out the school to clean the surroundings. Our school was near the Mactan channel so we would pick up the trash there too.
That's great! I hope even students in elementary or kindergarten have this kind, so that when they grow up, it will continue to be instilled in their minds so they would be mindful of keeping the environment clean.

This project is just perfect to be advocated for since we can see how devastating our environment especially the bodies of water. Rivers, seas, and streams have been polluted with plastics and unwanted materials. Just displeasing with our eyes.
I know Karen Velasco for she won the Miss Earth back then. She was gifted with a good heart for Mother Earth, and how lovely that she joined this project. How long this activity lasted? A whole day or something? I would love to join and volunteer for advocacy like this. Worth to experience and apply for my life. Good job!
