Things I Prepare For an Upcoming Typhoon

The Philippines is most likely to experience tropical cyclones whole year-round. I was one of those who needed preparation and precaution about the past typhoon Yolanda. It was a deep regret after the calamity happened.
Now that typhoon Odette has come, I learned my mistake.
Truth trampled me that for us to be safe and eventually help others, we also have to be equipped with the necessary things that we can utilize when typhoon comes.
I went to the market to buy some groceries needed at home, a few days before happened after work. I watched the news on the television after dinner. It's a way of knowing when and where the typhoon will hit.

📝INFORMATION SEEKING

With the era of new technology today, it's easy for us to know what's happening in the world. Social Media is one of the tools that keep us updated about typhoons, earthquakes, and a lot more.
It is essential to seek information during typhoons to prepare the necessary things we need. And to keep posted about it. We could also take some actions before we get affected by the latter.

PREPARATION TIME

🥙FOOD

1.jpg

Food is life. It's an essential power to keep our souls alive.
I prepared some ready-to-eat and instant food to reduce the usage of gas; sardines, tuna, beef loaf, corned beef, noodles, and canton. I bought vegetables that may not have rotten right away and need a short time to cook. Of course, I love eating in between meals, so I have biscuits and bread. 😂

🥛DRINKING/POTABLE WATER

2.jpg

From what I've learned, drinking eight glasses of water a day keeps some diseases away. It has a vital role in functioning the different systems in our body. Science lesson, right?😂 That is why we shouldn't miss preparing this. We also use this especially doing household chores.

🫕GAS RANGE

3.jpg

I make sure that it keeps the fire burning when I need it. So, we should check it first if there's still gas inside. How? I carry it. If it's still heavy, then there's still some gas inside. ;) I can't cook rice if I don't have this. I don't want my family to famish.

💊🩹MEDICINE AND FIRST AID KIT

6.jpg

We can't predict some circumstances that may occur in our bodies. Of course, nobody wants that to happen. It's good to prepare some medicines at home lest we need them the most.

🔋POWER BANK

7.jpg

It was a dilemma before when we didn't have this because won't be updated on what was happening around us. I couldn't contact my parents and sister when my phone was on low battery. I can't charge the flashlight. As you can see, it's a lot better than having nothing to keep the batteries alive.
In short, it always helps a lot during power shutdown.

🔦FLASHLIGHT

4.jpg

A flashlight illuminates our home. We can hardly move or do some activities when it's dark; we can't do what we need to do. It is recommended during typhoons because usually, it will have hours of power interruption.
Flashlights give comfort in the absence of electrical power. I'm thankful to the one who invented it.

📱CELLPHONE

5.jpg

Cellphones make us connect with the people we love and ask for help.
Cellphones were able us to keep in touch with our family, use them during an emergency and even update us on what's going on in our society. Cellphones make us connect with the people we love and ask for help.

EVERY DAY ALWAYS READY

We should be proactive in our daily lives by taking full responsibility for the situation in which our energy is in control.
We can no longer be in that much panic, fear, stress, and anxiety if we are ready for a cataclysm that may come soon. It's always best to get ready every day.😘

CONTEMPLATION

In all aspects of our lives, readiness seems comforting and gives essential that may contain us to some emotional problem during the disaster. I can say that I have improved or developed a lot. I have matured not only by talking about preparedness but also other things.
We shouldn't neglect the reminders by our Local Government Unit's message regarding catastrophe.

How about you? How do you prepare for the upcoming holocaust? Are we the same?

Great preparation you have there. We as a collective should always prepare for natural hazards, and it's great to see that you're doing your part as well.

I've learned my lesson during typhoon Yolanda. I wasn't prepared.Thank you @humbledwriter .

Being prepared is so important because we never know what may happen in times like these. I hope and pray that the typhoon won't intensify and we will all be safe. Stay dry and safe dear 🤗

Stay safe, too.
Thanks for dropping by.🥰You're right @lifewithera. ☺️

We have the same preparation for typhoon. Stay Safe!

Hey! Feeling the super typhoon already. Just went to the wet market to grab some last minute food supply! I should have a powerbank with me. Damn! Veco is also planning to cut the supply later at 10pm. 🙁

Have you seen the news? Siargao has fallen! 😭 and other islands have already been affected badly. Stay safe and Godbless!

Cebu City is declared signal no. 4.

We're safe here. Thanks. God bless. How are you miss @indayclara ?

Hello @missleeray! That's how we prepare, too. Another suggestion would be to keep a "Go bag" where food, water, and clothing (good for at least 3 days), flash light, and other necessities that can fit, just in case you need to go to an evacuation center. We also put important documents in a zip lock bag, so they won't get wet.

Sending love from Zambales! Stay safe and dry. ♥️

Oh yes, "go bag" is important. I'll take note on that. Thanks for the suggestion.☺️
Stay safe @lovehannah. ☺️

It's always great to be well-prepared for anything.
So many people look down on flashlight, but I think it comes in handy as you cannot always rely on your phone.
Finger crossed that everything would be fine. 🙂

Yes, I got my small rechargeable flashlight from an online store.
It really is useful.
Stay safe @sunnyvo.

I wasn't aware a typhooon was on the way, I hope you will be alright. I've been through some very long floods in Cambodia before, with power outages, and I it's so smart to have a battery bank so you can keep your phone charged. You don't want to risk losing your connection with the outside world.

You're right. Battery bank helps a lot. Thanks and stay safe @justinparke. ☺️

I don't know how typhoons affect water lines around you or if floods occur. In that regard, I'd add a water filter just in case. In emergencies people tend to buy all the water supply they can carry. There's a freaking effective super lightweight filter called Sawyer mini. Anyways, just wanted to add my 2cents. Stay safe.

Wow, water filter is amazing. I'll share that to my husband.
Thanks for the suggestion.
