Scroll The Bowl With Spring Roll: And Let The Good Times Roll!

" Spring Roll, Anyone! "

We all love festivities, right? Anniversary, birthday, or even small wins deserve to be celebrated. Much with the picture of commemoration, food is the best part in it. And with the true blue Filipino celebration, spring roll is never amissed. It's everybody's favorite. In case it's nowhere seen on the table, everyone is confident to ask for it. But what I love with this dish though it requires a lot of effort preparing for it, we can make it in big batches and store it in freezer for several weeks when the meat is cooked before wrapping it, otherwise, it is safer to store some for just a week if meat's uncooked. So this is what I am going to share in this content. Now, let's start rolling!

Ingredients:

-500g lean ground pork
-2 carrots (grated or minced)
-1 medium sized white onion (minced thinly)
-5 cloves garlic (grated or minced)
-1 red bell pepper (minced)
-1 or 2 stalks spring omiom (minced)
-half tbsp oyster sauce
-1 tsp salt
-1 to 1.5 tsp ground black pepper
-1/4 to 1/2 tsp seasoning powder or chicken powder
-1 medium sized egg
(Note: Please use 1/4 cup of mayonnaise instead, if you use cooked meat)
-1/2 cup flour or bread crumbs
-1 to 1.5 tsp sesame oil
-60 to 80 pcs spring roll/lumpia wrapper
-cheese (optional)
-100g ground shrimp (Optional. I am allergic to shrimp so I don't include it)
-1.5 to 2 cups of cooking oil (for deep frying)
-sweet chili sauce
-preferred vegetable for plating (optional)

1.Wash well the ingredients. Mince or grate accordingly using knife or food processor or grater. Place them all in a mixing bowl.

2.Add in the ground pork and season with oyster sauce. Note that you can use cooked meat which is done before doing this procedure.

3.Add in the salt and ground black pepper.

4.Add in the seasoning powder or chicken powder, and egg with the ground shrimp if you are using it.

5.Add in the flour or bread crumbs, and sesame oil. Mix them all very well. Cover and place it in your fridge. Let it set for twenty (20) to thirty (30) minutes. While waiting, you can detach the wrappers one by one and mix a tablespoon of flour with 1/4 cup of water or less if you want it pastier to seal the rolls.

6.Scoop half a tablespoon (or more) of the mixture. If you want it with cheese which is highly preferred by our kids, do not forget to put it on mid-top of the mixture, then place it on one edge of the wrapper and fold each side inward. Start rolling and seal the tip with the mixed flour and water. Repeat until all mixture is wrapped. This procedure is highly repetitive. Sometimes I feel sleepy but imagining it already cooked motivates me to go on, hahaha. Just endure and enjoy wrapping and rolling!

7.In medium low heat, place your frying pan with oil. Using a wooden spatula or chopstick, check the temperature of the oil. When the right temperature is achieved, deep fry the rolls. Based from the picture, the rolls with cheese in it are fried whole while the rolls without cheese are cut in half. I like it better in bite size. You can have your own preference too. Your kitchen now smells so good that you can't help but munch some while frying the rest. Enjoy!

8.Remove from the pan when already golden brown. Place it on a strainer to remove the excess oil. Let it cool.

9.When already cool, place the spring rolls on a dish with a vegetable of your choice with the sweet chili sauce. Your freshly made spring rolls are now ready to be served. Enjoy your meal!

Thank you everyone for the support and being with me until the very end. I hope to see you again in my next menu. Happy weekend to you all!

Spring rolls, truly the heart of every Filipino celebration. I agree, they do take time and effort, but making them in big batches and freezing some is such a smart move. It’s like saving joy for later. 😍

Hello @gretelarmfeg! Yes, highly recommended for a quick food to-go of the students, all ready for mom's convenience after a long and repetitive effort of rolling. Oftentimes, my eyes are rolling in drowsiness too preparing for it😂😂!
