Trying Satay and Oxtail Soup at an unnamed restaurant

Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you're all well. Recently, I visited a very traditional restaurant in Bandung. The food was very distinctive, Sundanese. However, the restaurant didn't have a name. In Bandung, especially in the regency areas, there are many restaurants without names.

I happened to order food with my friend. What did I order? Goat satay, oxtail soup, and rice. One of the specialty dishes here is nasi timbel. Nasi timbel is rice wrapped in banana leaves. This adds to the aroma of the rice and naturally increases my appetite.

Of course, the Sundanese specialty is sambal. Here, they serve green sambal, made from green chilies. It's not too spicy. It pairs perfectly with the oxtail soup. In fact, this place is very unique because it's housed in a wooden hut and is very close to rice paddies.

The place and the food are perfect. I felt like lingering here. Oh yes, the satay here is grilled like Maranggi satay, a Purwakarta specialty. Grilled and seasoned with just a few spices. Then, dipped in sweet soy sauce and pickles. What do you like about this dish? I love the oxtail soup.

The soup here is very savory. Not too many spices are used. The broth is clear but the spices are very pronounced. All of these dishes go very well together. A unique place and delicious food. I love Sundanese food, especially home-cooked food. It reminds me of home and my mother.

Oh yeah, my mother often makes this oxtail soup only during Eid al-Adha. I really miss it when she makes it. Usually, when I come home and she makes this dish, she always brings it back to Jakarta. She tells me to eat it at home. That's all I can tell you about this story. How are you? See you later.
