This afternoon, I was about to transfer some Hive funds to my Gate.io account. Sadly, things didn’t go as planned. Instead of sending Hive, I mistakenly sent HBD. It was a small error, but it cost me more than I expected. 😭
Everything started because I was too confident that I was doing the right process. I copied the correct address and memo, which gave me a sense of assurance. But what I failed to do was the most important step. I forgot to swap or convert HBD into Hive first before sending it to Gate.io. That one missed step changed everything.
After I completed the transaction, I patiently waited for the funds to reflect on my Gate.io account. Thirty minutes passed, and nothing showed up. I began to feel nervous and uneasy. I immediately went back to check my Hive account, and to my dismay, I realized what happened, I had transferred HBD instead of Hive. 😭😭
I quickly contacted Gate.io support to ask if I could still recover my funds. At first, I received a disheartening response that the funds were irretrievable.
Now, they informed me that there’s actually a token recovery feature, but it comes with requirements. They needed me to provide certain details from the blockchain explorer, which I honestly didn’t know how to get. On top of that, there’s also a gas fee required, and I needed to have at least 20 USDT in my account to proceed. Unfortunately, I didn’t have that balance. To make matters worse, the amount I mistakenly sent was less than that, which made it even more impractical.
What makes this mistake even more painful is that the funds I was about to withdraw from Hive were just a small amount, but for me, they meant a lot. Losing them feels heavy, especially knowing they’re gone and can’t be recovered. 😭
That moment left me frustrated and disappointed. I lost funds that I can no longer recover. My Gate.io account doesn’t really have money in it since I only use it as a gateway to withdraw Hive funds. Now, that HBD I mistakenly sent is practically gone.
This experience taught me a hard lesson to always double-check or even triple-check every detail before confirming a transaction. It may seem like a small thing to review, but overlooking it can lead to irreversible mistakes.
It was my first time committing such an error in using Gate.io, and I hope it will also be the last. 🙏 Goodbye to the HBD that disappeared. From now on, I’ll be more careful and cautious when dealing with transactions like this. 🙏
If you’re making a transaction, please take my experience as a reminder. Always make sure you’re sending the correct token, to the correct address, and following the right steps. Crypto transactions are unforgiving, and one wrong move can cost you. A few extra seconds of rechecking can save you from losing your hard-earned funds.

I was once having same situation like you but mine bigger amount.
Sad, angry, dissapointed, and blaming myself are kinda normal emotion. But, hey cheers up. We can get those HBD back in some time. Just keep back grinding

That was so sad. I hope you can retrieve your hbd. I did not know that you can possibly lost you funds with just wrong click. I haven’t tried to withdraw yet since I am still a newbie.
