Convenience stores that provide various cute products at affordable prices have been growing more and more among consumers. From where I live, retail stores that sell household necessities are easy to find. They are usually from Chinese or Japanese brands, but when opened in Indonesia, it obviously adapt to local needs and culture as well.
Niceso is one of them. it’s a retail company that has been operating since 2018. This store provides daily necessities with more affordable prices than similar retail stores here. And they really do have everything you need, and also other things that you think you need.
That’s what makes it dangerous. Niceso offers many kind of products such as stationery, homeware and household necessities, toys, accessories, and even beauty products. My youngest sister really loves going there. Even when she doesn’t know what she wants, she will end up comeback home with something cute in her hands. So do I :”)
I’m not really someone who buying things without consideration, but a cute retail store like this somehow make you think you need some of their products even when you don’t need them at all, doesn’t it? For me, something that always catches my attention is notebooks. I don’t know why it is about me, that I thought I always need a new notebook even though the ones I already have are still half empty😂
But what I like about Niceso, beside their affordable price, is that they don’t really have thousands of options. At least not as much as some similar retail stores where they tend to have so many options for one exact product, right? For example notebooks, they usually have more than 50 different styles and designs. It can be so overwhelm and make us impulsively buy more than one just because they’re all cute. I mean.. that’s me, not us😁
Another interesting fact about Niceso is, unlike similar retail stores that are usually can be found in malls and big shopping centers, Niceso has several stores located on the site of the road. In my opinion that’s not a good or bad thing, just interesting. Because now, people with lower class backgrounds like me, also can afford the products that they sell.
They not only embrace consumers in the city center, but also expand their reach to people who living in more remote areas (even though it’s not really remote since we’re still living in the city anyway😁) With an innovative location strategy, Niceso has managed to reach a wide range of consumers.
I didn’t plan to write this as a commentary type blog, but doesn't it end up being a bit like that, huh?😅 No, I mean it doesn’t have to be specifically a retail store like this, but any similar stores in general–especially online shops, isn’t it become dangerous when we feel like we always need more products just because they look cute. What do you think?

What a relatable and fun reflection! It so true that these kinds of cute, affordable retail stores can be both delightful and dangerously tempting. I completely get what you mean about going in with no plan and still walking out with something you didn't know you "needed" I also agree that having fewer choices can sometimes be a good thing-it saves us from decision overload . It's funny how a simple trip to a retail store can turn into a mini adventure and even a little self-reflection.
