What is really exciting in the life of a musician is the challenge of what to choose to play in certain circumstances. For example for this last round of Hive Music Festival (week 15). As always, I practise a few different pieces at the same time, for different purposes. And somehow it is not easy to choose only one.

I had some doubts because some time ago I wrote in Musescore (free notation writing software) an arrangement of Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2, by composer Franz Liszt. I was not sure if it sounds well or not, as it is more like paraphrasing the main motifs and melodies of the original composition. The main form is the same, the first part slower, as is characteristic of Hungarian rhapsodies, and the second part fast.
I didn’t dare play anywhere yet, although I actually wrote this arrangement a couple of months ago. You will judge whether I have made a good decision to present my work on this occasion.
So the original composition is Hungarian Rhapsody, no 2 composed by Franz Liszt. That piece is so famous that it was featured in some cartoons as well. The most famous use was given in the Tom and Jerry cartoon, in The Cat Concerto episode.

So here it comes, in my version and my interpretation. Hope you will have fun listening to it.

Such elegance and poise. Again the fingers fluttering along the keys, yet the presence of a hammer when needed. I didn't know the piece. It is beautiful. So is your performance. I also like the say you sway with the music. It is impossible not to get moved by the invisible threads of melody. Another great job! 👏👏👏

Thanks @bertrayo, for your top comment. And yes, it is impossible not to get guided by the invisible threads of the music, at least for me. Thanks again 🤗

My pleasure. Thanks for the quality content, @mipiano. 🤗

By the way, I have often heard that Liszt's pieces tend to be hard because some passages have ridiculously long intervals between notes. Is it the case with this particular piece?

Liszt was a genius in his time, he wrote technically very difficult works. Octaves, chords, fast passages... however, not just the technical part requires a lot of preparation, as his pieces are musically deep as well.
So, in original this is very hard to play, this is kind of paraphrasing on the main melodies 😅

Yes, I have read a bit about that. I remember I downloaded some music sheets once and had some Liszt's works in there and I was frightened just to look at that. "How do pianists play this madness?" Ha, ha, ha. Now I like your performance even more. 😄

Like violinists Paganini 🤣 same difficulty

Ha, ha, ha. Yeah, my thoughts exactly! 🤣

Very nice paraphrase and you play it well. The double octave passage goes very well, I can imagine that took a lot of practise.

Thank you @partitura for listening till the end to hear the double octave passages 🤓

Felicidades amiga, me has traido muchos recuerdos con esta obra. Te deseo mucho éxito y bendiciones. 😘😘😘😘

Gracias @mariajruizb, justo estoy escuchado la canción que acabas de subir 😍

Grazie mille @amico.sports. Am I glad that it came out well, and shows the love that you mentioned 🎶💛

Sooner or later I will reach a high degree of perfection like yours, @mipiano... 🙄 I don't know if in this or the next life! 😀

Sooner than you think, as I see, you started to practise so diligently 😇

Mi (sabio) profesor de piano me dijo que "el piano es como un espejo: lo que das, lo recibes".
¡Gracias de todas formas por tu siempre bienvenido estímulo!

And THANK you for the tip 🤩🙌

De nada, mi hermana! 🤗

Oh, at least someone noticed the lights 😎 I was against them but my son decorated the room before my reaction..so the lights were on, and I was ON for some piano playing as well 🤘😁 I am glad you loved it 😇

LOL! Our kids are so into Christmas. I think every open surface has a Christmas decoration on it now 🤣 but it's really cute.
