MONOMAD CHALLENGE : Under the same roof [ENG-ESP]
I like to take pictures of inanimate objects more than people. Maybe that's why I like to photograph the homes we know, where we spend the night or visit. Those places become an accumulation of memories that remain in our minds and hearts. All images are mine, using my Canon EOS Rebel t3i camera.
Me gustan realizar más fotos a objetos inanimados que a personas. Quizás por eso me gusta fotografiar los hogares que conocemos, donde pernoctamos o visitamos. Esos lugares se convierten en un cúmulo de recuerdos que quedan en nuestra mente y corazón. Todas las imágenes son mías, usando mi cámara Canon EOS Rebel t3i.
On the occasions when one is accompanied one is usually particularly special, both for the very good and the not so good. We usually go where we like to go, so we mostly have good memories of the houses and places. Those four walls become silent witnesses to pleasant conversations, delicious meals and so much affection and friendship that is usually present. They are also heartfelt farewells to our loved ones, and remind us of those who have gone. The roof will have a privileged view of all that we do to enjoy time together in healthy company. That's why we can smile when we see a photo and say: "That's where we did... " this or that.
En las ocasiones en las que uno está acompañado suele ser particularmente especial, tanto para lo muy bueno, como para lo poco bueno. Generalmente vamos a donde nos gusta ir, así que mayormente tenemos buenos recuerdos de las casas y los lugares. Esas cuatro paredes se convierten en testigos silenciosos de conversaciones amenas, comidas deliciosas y tanto cariño y amistad que suele estar presente. También lo son de sentidas despedidas de nuestros seres amados, y nos recuerdan a aquellos que se han ido. El techo tendrá una vista privilegiada de todo lo que hacemos en pro de disfrutar el rato juntos en sana compañía. Es por eso que podemos sonreír cuando vemos una foto y decir: "Allí es donde hicimos..." ésto o aquello.
Also, in those where we have been alone, I think it also has its charms. Some writers or artists have used isolation to find their muse, to reflect or create. Something similar happens to many of us. Moments of solitude help to reflect on important matters, or simply to take time for oneself in the midst of so many obligations and responsibilities. Perhaps it has happened to you, but when we are in this condition, the spaces seem larger and wider, you notice details of the place that you had not noticed carefully. Indeed, it is another level. Is it better to be alone or accompanied? You decide...
También, en aquellos donde hemos estado solos creo que también tiene sus encantos. Algunos escritores o artistas les ha servido el aislamiento para poder encontrar su musa, poder reflexionar o crear. A muchos nos pasa algo parecido. Los momentos en soledad ayudan a reflexionar sobre asuntos importantes, o sencillamente tomarse un tiempo para uno mismo en medio de tantas obligaciones y responsabilidades. Quizás te haya pasado, pero cuando estamos en esa condición te parecen los espacios más grandes y amplios, te percatas de detalles del lugar en los que no habías reparado con detenimiento. Efectivamente, es otro nivel. ¿Es mejor estar sólo o acompañado? Tú decidirás...
Something that happens with this type of images is that they tend to have more value when these structures no longer exist, or have deteriorated in such a way that they become unrecognizable. Have you noticed that sometimes the houses of important people in the history of a place are highly valued? Suddenly we see it in a small museum and they say to you: "This was the house where one of the first residents of this city lived ". Historians usually value this kind of images. Well, so far I haven't had the joy of photographing something on that level, but who knows if I'll be able to say the same in a few years if I keep collecting memories in my camera.
Algo que sucede con éste tipo de imágenes es que suelen tener más valor cuando dichas estructuras ya no existen, o se han deteriorado de tal forma que se tornan irreconocibles. ¿Te has fijado que a veces se suele valorar mucho las casas de personas relevantes de la historia de algún lugar? De pronto la vemos en un pequeño museo y te dicen: "Así era la casa donde vivía uno de los primeros residentes de ésta ciudad". Los historiadores suelen valorar éste tipo de imágenes. Bueno, hasta ahora no he tenido la dicha de fotografiar algo de ese nivel, pero quien sabe si podré decir lo mismo en unos años si sigo recogiendo recuerdos en mi cámara.
