First time I go to the malecon during a hurricane storm surge. Understand that I didn't go during the hurricane, that's suicide, and even less for a photo, if there is something I follow to the letter when it comes to photography, it's safety first. I went when the weather was acceptable, with strong winds but sunny. From Hurricane Nicole, only the huge waves were left, crashing against the seawall. Some cars take the risk of driving along the avenue, knowing the damage that the saltpeter does to the metal of the bodywork. I saw people who stop to photograph the waves, (like me, hahaha) but this gentleman in the first photo wanted something close to the action, so much so that he almost got soaked when the foam from the wave fell at his feet. It's one of my best black and white photos I've ever taken, I'm so glad I was there at the right time. Then I saw two young girls playing on the side of the wall here, waiting for the waves to enjoy the impotent rage of the sea. They were having a great time, sitting on the sidewalk and the sea rushing over and around them. I was a little envious, to be honest.
Primera vez que voy al malecón durante la marea que arroja un huracán. Entiéndase que no fui durante el huracán, eso es suicidio, y menos por una foto, si hay algo que sigo al pie de la letra cuando se trata de fotografía, es la seguridad es lo primero. Fui cuando ya había tiempo aceptable, con fuertes vientos pero soleado. Del huracán Nicole sólo quedaban las inmensas olas que chocaban rabiando el muro del malecón. Algunos autos se arriesgan a circular por la avenida, a sabiendas del daño que hace el salitre al metal de las carrocerías. Vi gente que se para a fotografiar las olas, (como yo, jajaja) pero este señor de la primera foto quería algo bien cercano a la acción, tanto es así que casi se empapa cuando la espuma de la ola que ven cayó a sus pies. Es una de mis mejores fotos en blanco y negro que he hecho, me siento muy contento de haber estado ahí en el momento preciso. Luego vi a dos jovencitas jugando del lado de acá del muro, esperando las olas para disfrutar de la rabia impotente del mar. Ellas la estaban pasando super bien, sentadas en la acera y el mar corriendo sobre y alrededor de ellas. Tuve un poco de envidia, la verdad.
