Monomad: Orangutan Jumping Spider (Rhene sp.)

By now, I often encounter jumping spiders of various species during my walks in nature. Although it was not easy to photograph jumping spiders—especially those that are too small—with a good focal point, I still felt challenged to capture them.

This species is Rhene flavigera, also known as the orangutan jumping spider, which is commonly found in Sumatra. That face mimicking an orangutan, is so cute. Although the spider is tiny in body, it moves slower than most jumping spiders. I noticed it crawl slowly on a weed stem. It is not a shy person. It is happy to show its face; that's what I like about this little guy. That's the most handsome face I have ever seen.

This is another entry I submitted for the daily #monomad challenge.
