Animals in Black and White III - Monomad Challenge

in Black And White3 years ago

I love nature and I love travelling, so everywhere I go I try to get a shot of the fauna I encounter. Some of them more rare than others. Here I bring you a third collection of animals in Black and White.

I have mentioned this animal before. It is a very peculiar animal only found on an island in the west coast of Australia, Rottnest Island. Australia is known for having a unique ecosystem giving life to certain type of animals that are only found there. But it goes even deeper, some of them are only found in specific places, like this Quokka. They are very sociable animals as well as funny. When they look at you it seems they are smiling! To be completely honest, my visit to this island was merely to get to know this animal. Although the island itself is impressive I focused more on taking pictures of these little macropods.

Another creature I found in Australia. This time on the beach at Byron Bay. It was actually funny the way I found it. I was hiding in some trees to take some pictures of the beach with some vegetation before it. When I was laying down on a rock ready to take my shots I spotted this lizard right next to me! At first I got scared since I didn't know what it was and in Australia you never know, but then I just took it as a good chance to get pictures of this no so social animal that normally would try to get away from you.

From a little lizard we go to a much bigger similar animal, the crocodile. Here I got even more scared! Although this picture it was taken from afar I have to say that I was on a little canoe sailing on a river infested with crocodiles. I didn't know there were that many. I was supposed to do a safari around the Nepalese National Park of Chitwan, and the first thing we do is embark on a canoe very unstable when I suddenly what I only see is crocodile heads around us. Definitely a unique experience in my life.

This animal is not very unusual but what I like is the perfection of it. It was taken in a botanic garden in New Zealand. Sometimes you look for good pictures and sometimes the good pictures come to you. In this case I was walking and saw this peculiar structure that obviously I was going to shoot. To my surprise I had this seagull just right at the top of it. I prayed a lot while I was taking the picture for the seagull to not leave...
