Hello there, black-and-white photography lovers!

Dragonflies are on my top favorite insects. For starters, they eat mosquitoes. Of course, they do not eat them all, but it is a nice thing that other insects prey on these pests. That is specifically true living in an area that used to be a forest of mangroves.

I usually get to watch some of them flying over the garden. Their fly paths are interesting. Even when they have that long shape, theor flight is similar to a helicopter or a hummingbird. However, they are quite fast and extremely difficult to capture in shots. The only time I have been able to do so is when I find a corpse.

It is so sad that the only way I can photograph these insects is when they are dead, but it is what it is. This one was already on the process of becoming a ants's meal. That is also something that shows you the cycle of life. These insects fly, but end up on the ground and then eaten by something that crawls.

Even when they are not moving I find their features fascinating. Their wings are just something incredible!

Remember those days when I would chase colorful dragonflies.
Now, seemed they are starting to go extinct.

They are harder to see these days. I guess it depends on your location.
