It's that time of year again, when the fairgrounds here in Louisville are full of folks enjoying all the fun, food, critters and shenanigans at the Kentucky State Fair.
Went wandering there on Tuesday, to play with cameras and see just how fair Kentucky was.
By all indications, the food is still finger lickin' good.
Usually try and pay at least a couple visits each year, to wander around and snap some shots. There's some things, like this M5 Stuart light tank, that always seem to end up in at least a few photos each year. As time keeps slipping into the future, an archive of sorts seems to have accumulated, a fair progression of sorts.
Ever since I was a kid, this has always been my favorite (un)fair game, was the closest nine year old me was going to get to fully automatic weapons. Never won, even as an adult with much improved marksmanship and a lighter trigger finger, but that ceased to be the point somewhere along the way. At a dime per BB, might as well go back to hunting squirrel with a .22LR, would probably cost less and the prizes taste better anways.
Wandered in right before this happened, still not sure what wizardry was responsible for this. Seemed like he was trying to show the sea lions in the parking lot a thing or two.
Upon further reflection, going to have to call it all pretty fair. . .
We thoughts about going. Then thought about how anxious I get in crowds. Changed our minds. Do like to check out all the animals the 4Hers have at the fair though. THose are always cool. Enjoy seeing all the work kids put into their critters.
I feel ya, my tolerance for crowds ain't what it used to be. Early afternoon on weekdays the crowd is usually pretty sparse, which is fine by me except it makes the photography more work. C'est la vie. The critters and the 4Hers are the part of the fair I usually run out of steam on, don't spend nearly as much time there as I probably should.
