Black lives matter here in Louisville, just ask any elected official! Louisville Metro Police Department thinks so too, so much so that they now deploy dump trucks and concrete barriers at the faintest hint of a threat...er...protest I mean.
This is what freedom looks like, right?
I feel safer already...
I was so worried about city hall until I saw this next one. They even threw in a recycling bin!
I'm still not too sure about this next one. Did we need protection from the jail? Or were they worried we'd be in a mad rush to incarcerate ourselves?
Who could feel unsafe with SWAT watching from the rooftops with spotlights and scopes?
LMPD was kind enough to make sure we couldn't get lost by blocking off any possible wrong turns.
What could have been further down that street to have the cops turn out like this?
I still haven't deciphered what they were doing here but they were doing it hard.
As you can see, the city and LMPD pulled out all the stops in making sure we felt as welcome as a gonorrhea diagnosis yesterday. What they hoped to accomplish by that still escapes me but it is reassuring in at least one sense, apparently even the city/LMPD recognizes that nothing was resolved last year and that we're not going away.
(I took way too many photos yesterday so I am breaking it up into a couple different posts, so stay tuned for more)
It is as it's always been, the police are just enforcers for the status quo. Only difference is these days they are overloaded with surplus military toys that they are just dying for an excuse to use.
Great photos!
Pretty much, although overloaded might still be a bit of an understatement. Thank you, and thanks for dropping by!
Yeah, the longer the protests have gone on, the worse the craziness has gotten. 'Protection' is their justification for most of what they do but we haven't seen much of it.
Thanks, you too!
Pretty much, we learned how to deal with police tactics from the Hong Kong protesters.
