Buenos Aires is the city influenced by architectures of different styles or types, as is the case of this eclectic style basilica. It is called Basilica Nuestra Señora de la Merced located on Reconquista Street and is located at the back of the famous Metropolitan Cathedral located in Plaza de Mayo.
A very old church that was built in the early 1700's but was remodeled more than 150 years later for its foundation as this basilica in 1900.
It is a catholic temple that is located between the great financial towers of the area and is a national historic monument. Impossible to go unnoticed in front of this great structure and not admire each of its details, so I decided to portray it for black and white photography and share it with all of you in this entry for my monomad challenge 🙂
The photos I share with you have marked the details of this basilica and something that caught my attention was the upper front where there are engraved structures and reading a little, it is a set of sculptures made as a symbol of what was the battles to liberate the Argentine nation from the Spanish empire. You can see how an offering is being made.
For the other photos you can appreciate other details of construction and design, with certain symmetry. One of the towers of the basilica, a sculpture of an angel and the general view of this architectural jewel of Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires es la ciudad influenciada por arquitecturas de distintos estilos o tipos, como es el caso de esta basílica de estilo ecléctico. Tiene por nombre basílica nuestra señora de la merced ubicada en la calle reconquista y se encuentra en la parte trasera de la famosa catedral metropolitana ubicada en la plaza de Mayo.
Una iglesia muy antigua que se construyó eña principios de los años 1700 pero que fue remodelada más de 150 años después para su fundación cómo esta basílica en el año 1900.
Es un templo católico que se situa entre las grandes torres financieras de la zona y que es monumento histórico nacional. Imposible pasar desapercibido ante esta gran estructura y no admirar cada uno de sus detalles, así que decidí retratarla para fotografía en blanco y negro y compartirla con todos ustedes en esta entrada para mí reto monomad 🙂
Las fotos que les comparto tienen marcado los detalles de esta basílica y algo que me llamó mucho la atención era el frontal superior dónde se hayan estructuras grabadas y leyendo un poco, se trata de un conjunto de esculturas realizadas como símbolo de lo que fue las batallas por liberar la nación argentina del imperio español. Se puede ver cómo se está haciendo una ofrenda.
Para las demás fotos se pueden apreciar otros detalles de construcción y diseño, con cierta simetría. Una de las torres de la basílica, una escultura de un ángel y la vista general de esta joya arquitectónica de Buenos Aires.
