At this wedding, I had a good time. It was simple but lovely. It was one of the last events I worked on with a friend named Jesús, who used to handle the video part of weddings. It was one of the last because, after that, I met Alejandro, who I currently work with. Alejandro was able to fill the gap my company had in that area due to the lack of detail that we were seeing in the video work.
En esta boda la pasé bien, fue sencilla pero linda. Fue una de las últimas pautas que hice con un amigo que se llama Jesús, quien antes hacía la parte de video para las bodas. Fue una de las últimas porque luego de eso conocí a Alejandro, que es con quien ahora trabajo, y Alejandro consiguió suplir el hueco que tenía mi empresa en ese aspecto debido al poco nivel de detalle que se tenía en esa área.
What’s curious here is that one might think this was happening because of Jesús’ poor performance, but the truth is that wasn’t the case. Jesús is one of the best videographers I’ve worked with in terms of his commitment and willingness to create and seek out interesting moments. The main issue we had was that Jesús had other jobs and wasn’t editing the footage he shot. So, even though he was highly creative, he couldn’t use that creativity to its fullest. And the people who were editing the videos at the time were, in my opinion, doing a poor job.
Lo curioso aquí es que uno pensaría que eso ocurría por un rendimiento deficiente por parte de Jesús, pero la verdad es que no. Jesús es uno de los mejores videógrafos con los que pude trabajar en un aspecto, por su compromiso y disposición en crear y buscar situaciones interesantes. Pero el problema principal que teníamos era que Jesús tenía otros trabajos y no editaba el material que grababa. Así que su capacidad creativa no la podía utilizar al 100%, y las personas que editaban video lo hacían bastante deficiente a mi parecer.
Once I realized that video was not something I wanted to leave in that state, I started working to improve that area, putting a lot of energy and attention into changing its course. Jesús got very excited at that point, but that’s when I met Alejandro. I invited him to a wedding, and Alejandro had more free time, better equipment for video, and ultimately filled the gap, which lightened the burden I had in trying to develop a stable and consistent videographic style that matched my expectations.
Una vez yo identifiqué que el video no era algo que quería dejar así, comencé a trabajar en mejorar ese aspecto, poniendo mucha atención y energía en cambiar el rumbo que llevaba. Jesús en ese momento se entusiasmó mucho, pero justo en ese momento conocí a Alejandro y lo invité a que participara en una boda. Alejandro tenía el tiempo libre, un equipo mejor preparado para video, así que no solo suplió la deficiencia que tenía, sino que me aligeró mucho la carga que estaba teniendo al desarrollar un estilo videográfico estable y acorde para las expectativas que tenía.
Jesús is an incredible work partner. I regret not being able to keep calling on him, but I know in the future I wouldn't hesitate to ask him for help on other projects, because he’s a person of great value. Beyond a professional relationship, we built a friendship I truly appreciate.
Jesús es un compañero de trabajo increíble. Me lamento no haberlo podido seguir llamando, pero sé que en un futuro no dudaría en llamarlo a él para que me apoye con otros proyectos, porque es una persona de gran valor y con la que trabajé por años, formando además de una relación laboral una amistad que aprecio.
