Sofía and Ronald are the dance performers in these photographs. Sofía, who was our colleague in a dance performance piece for eight months, is someone I am grateful to for giving me the honor of learning dance techniques before falling in love with dance the way I am now. She reached out to us to be part of this new piece, where we won’t participate as performers specifically but rather with an audiovisual proposal.
Sofía y Ronald son los intérpretes de danza en estas fotografías. Sofía, quien fue nuestra compañera en una obra de danza performance durante ocho meses, es alguien a quien agradezco por haberme dado el honor de conocer técnicas de danza antes de enamorarme de ella como lo estoy ahora. Nos escribió para que formáramos parte de esta nueva obra, en la que no participaremos específicamente como intérpretes, sino con una propuesta audiovisual.
Sofía and Ronald are, in my opinion, incredible dancers. Their mastery and exploration of the body are highly advanced. Learning that they wanted to work with us filled me with great honor—not only for the chance to accompany them and learn from these great artists but also because they value my perspective and want a bit of my eye in the process.
Sofía y Ronald son, en mi opinión, unos bailarines increíbles. Su dominio y exploración del cuerpo son altamente avanzados. Saber que querían trabajar con nosotros me llenó de muchísimo honor, no solo por la oportunidad de acompañarlos y aprender de estos grandes artistas, sino también porque valoran mi mirada y quieren un poco de mi ojo en el proceso.
This piece is powerful and deeply critical of the society we live in. I believe it carries a lot of meaning, and I will be sharing more material as we continue building it. That way, I can keep you updated on their proposals and reflections. For now, I’ll leave you with these photos from the first session I did during a rehearsal—I really liked them.
Esta obra es fuerte y profundamente crítica con la sociedad en la que vivimos. Me parece que tiene un contenido muy potente, y estaré compartiendo más material a medida que la sigamos construyendo. Así podré mantenerlos al tanto de sus propuestas y reflexiones. Por ahora, les dejo estas fotos de la primera sesión que hice durante un ensayo; me gustaron bastante.
