A British Seaside stroll in monochrome

in Black And White4 years ago (edited)

This morning I had a little walkabout in Gorleston in Norfolk, England. It's October and still relatively warm for the time of year. I was surprised to see the beachfront area fairly busy so I tried a bit of monochromatic street photography..... or should that be seaside snaps?

A stroll?

I don't know about anywhere else in the world but over the last 10 years or so there seems to have been a proliferation of disabled electric scooters. I can't seem to get away from these damn things! In fact the person in the scooter is travelling faster than they were ever able to walk in their prime!

Out of season

The only occupant on this quay was a seagull...

Samaritans saving lost souls

I've never been to Gorleston but quickly realised this was an area frequented by suicidal people. There were signs everywhere, some of them very subtle, for the Samaritans and charities such as Mind. There must have been a spate of tragedies here over the years....

Futile?

I saw this local council employee shovelling sand and throwing it back on the beach. I was left wondering how futile this chap's job was because that sand will eventually land right back where it was!!

Coastguard station

The coast guard station was looking out to sea although this chap was clearly looking the wrong way....

Eyes along the coast

Cloudy blue skies look good in mono against the Coast Guard station.
