Continuing my black and white series, this is a collection of lightpainting shots converted to monochrome and look all the better for it!
This was shot 'in the field' rather than my kitchen. I lugged a few flash stands and a couple of tripods half a mile to our favourite lime kiln and set up the circuit board on one of the stands. I lined up the chip in the middle and fired a test shot. In this case, we didn't rehearse the 2nd part of the shot and just 'went for it' Rather conveniently @fadetoblack's silhouette fits nicely in the chip!
This is another tripod and lens swap shot where I have zoomed out during the exposure with a continuous light behind the board:
I'm a sucker for kinetic photography and the ball of light here is an Ikea Gamsebo bulb set up on a flash stand in my kitchen. To get the motion first you expose the bulb briefly in a static position and being careful to avoid jerky movements the tripod is then panned slowly to make a light trail:
And this was a more recent shot where I've used an iPad image of a skull and moved the tripod head to make the light trail:
All of the above images were shot in one photographic exposure and are not Photoshop creations apart from the obvious conversion to mono....
