Monomaniac 31 - monochrome portrait photography on Hive

in Black And White4 years ago (edited)

In preparation for a much anticipated urbex photoshoot in a couple of weeks, I thought it was about time I revisited some of my old stuff to see what worked and what didn't. (And there is a lot that didn't!). This is a set where I started posting shots where eyes are the prominent feature but quicky ended up as a post in monochrome!

This is a lightpainting image with the unbelievable Chayla ( aka @thetattoedprincess on IG ). She turned up to @brianbrogan1960's studio covered in red and purple emulsion paint with a couple of stick on "cups" to protect her modesty. With this image I used a studio strobe first to freeze Chayla, then a continuous studio light was left on while I kinetically rotated the camera making a light trail. This was the first time I tried this technique and I impressed myself with how well it worked first time! (As a footnote to this image and for the record, the modesty protecting stick on cups were still stuck after I had finished shooting!)

This is Eva McDonald shot with the sharp as feck Sony 85mm:

This is Tanya Taylor also shot with an Sony 85mm lens: I thought Tanya looked a little vulnerable in the shots I got and I've been hesitant to post the images:

And finally, this is Nikki Dine-Hart who although she looks a bit scary in this shot, is really a glass half full kinda gal!

About me:
I usually specialise in shooting lightpainting images but occasionally dabble in urbex and artistic model photography. I'm always on the lookout for someone to collaborate with; please don't hesitate to get in touch if you'd like to create art.

Love this one mate.

Cheers pal, for the first shot I realised I'd been hanging around with the most silhouetted lightpainter in the world and I hadn't done many shots where one could see the model lol

Nice shots mate. I love the one of Tanya. I also am loving my 85mm at the mo.

Cheers Brian, it goes without saying I miss the studio because these were all made there! Got myself a nifty little 35mm to try out in a couple of weeks which I'm enjoying at the mo....
