Monomad: Witnessing the First Snowfall in Solang Valley

Returning to North India from Goa, the monsoons had already receded, and the Indian Himalayas were now preparing for winter. With adventure in our hearts, we traveled from Goa to Delhi and then directly to Solang Valley. We completed the 2,443-km road journey in just two days, and we did so because the mountains had already begun to snow.

We were in Solang in the first week of October. The weather took such a turn that there was rain, landslides, and snowfall in the upper ranges. This continued for 3-4 days, and finally, the day arrived when the mountains of Solang Valley began to snow.

Patalsu Peak, Hanuman Tibba, Shitidhar Peak, Ladakhi Peak, Kullu Pumori, Muker Bah, Shikar Bah, and the distant Diyo Tibba were all covered in snow. Standing on the hotel balcony and looking at these mountains meant numbing your fingers and inviting a cold.

I managed to capture some stunning photos of the Dhauladhar mountain range and the Pir Panjal range before my camera (Canon D77, 55-250mm) battery died. I edited the photos in Lightroom to make them black and white, but during the snowfall, there was no need to edit the photos as all the mountains appeared in black and white.

This is my entry for #monomad challenge.
