Wonderful writing. I agree with @nickydee, these things have a way of figuring themselves out, though, you know? The challenge isn't find the answer, it's weather the confusion until the answer reveals itself.
Maybe then the pictures will make sense. If nothing else, they're just really lovely pictures.
