This is a man-made irrigation system for rice as the main crop in one of the inland settlements in my hometown. The flow of available river water has been controlled so that it can flow to the residents' rice fields according to their needs.
Rice fields stretch along the road leading to this village. So that agriculture with its product "rice" - the staple food of several countries on the Asian continent - has become a source of livelihood for its people and good irrigation is the main prerequisite for their agricultural land.
The irrigation systems they constructed to meet such water needs are shown in the photographs below.
