Playing With the Light - Objects With Black Background

in Black And Whiteyesterday (edited)

Continuing the theme of photography with softboxes, I'd like to share a few photos I took somedays using a black background. As in this post, I took the photos late at night in complete darkness, using only one or two softboxes to properly illuminate the subjects.

All photos were taken in a low-key style. I used a black background, which, combined with the darkness, allowed me to highlight the subjects, making them more impactful. Keeping the photos in black and white and with high contrast enhanced this effect even further.

My favorite of these photos is the one with the flowers. I bought them for my wife (then my fiancée, she loves receiving flowers :), but today I would probably expose it differently. The flower on the right was a bit underexposed.

It's been a while since I last used softboxes. There was a time in my life when I thought I'd pursue studio/product photography professionally, but over time, I discovered it wasn't for me. I lack the eye for commercial photography and prefer a more artistic approach. One day, I hope I'll find the time and motivation to try my hand at the kind of photos you've seen above again.

This is my entry for the #monomad challenge

That's all from me today. I wish you all a nice day (or evening)!

I'm using a translator to translate the text into English. I apologize for any errors!

All photos are my own. If anyone would like to use them for their own purposes, please contact me.
