During the past week I made several hikes in the mountains near Montalbán; this gave me the opportunity to take a lot of photographs of the landscape from high locations, thanks to which I was able to reserve many of them to process them in black and white format... The monochromatic landscape is an exciting thing to do and to look at afterwards. When color is removed from this type of photos, small details unexpectedly become relevant and turn the photographic plane into a cornucopia of objects to look at, understand and enjoy... Durante la pasada semana realicé varias caminatas en las montañas cercanas a Montalbán; esto me dio la oportunidad de hacer un montón de fotografías del paisaje de puntos elevados, gracias a lo cual pude reservar muchas de estas para procesarlas en formato blanco y negro... El paisaje monocromático es algo apasionante de hacer y de observar posteriormente. Cuando el color es retirado de este tipo de fotos, los detalles pequeños cobran relevancia inesperadamente y convierten el plano fotográfico en una cornucopia de objetos para mirar, entender y disfrutar... I am at a creative stage where I feel the need to make the foreground terrain the most relevant part of most of my landscape photographs. I have done this recurrently in many landscape photographs in vertical format (which is the way in which I find it easiest); but for this publication I selected photos in horizontal format taken with the same intention of generating visual impact by using the terrain in the foreground. Doing this horizontally was slightly more complicated for me, since the percentage of space below the horizon tends to be smaller for compositional reasons. However, I found the results I obtained in most of these photos very satisfactory.
Estoy en una etapa creativa en la que siento la necesidad de convertir el terreno en primer plano, en la parte más relevante de la mayoría de mis fotografías de paisajes. He hecho esto de manera recurrente en muchas fotografías de paisaje en formato vertical (que es la manera en la cual esto me parece más fácil); pero para esta publicación seleccioné fotos en formato horizontal realizadas con la misma intención de generar impacto visual utilizando el terreno en primer plano. Hacer esto en horizontal me resultó ligeramente más complicado, dado que el porcentaje destinado al espacio bajo el horizonte, tiende a ser menor por cuestiones de composición. Sin embargo, encontré muy satisfactorios los resultados que obtuve en la mayoría de estas fotos.
The weather during the first quarter of the year contributed in a good way for me to achieve this kind of photos. The long and intense drought was suddenly interrupted by showers in March. This allowed new foliage to appear on the vegetation, but at the same time there were still large patches of withered grass, some trees with bare branches, areas of bare rocks and a great diversity of light and dark tones everywhere. So with all this at hand, the table was set for a lot of landscape photography full of diverse elements in the foreground.
El clima durante el primer trimestre del año, contribuyó de buena manera para que yo pudiese lograr este tipo de fotos. La larga e intensa sequía se vio súbitamente interrumpida por aguaceros en Marzo. Esto permitió la aparición de follaje nuevo en la vegetación, pero al mismo tiempo seguían allí grandes porciones de pasto marchito, también algunos árboles con ramas desnudas, áreas de rocas sin vegetación y gran diversidad de tonos claros y obscuros por doquier. Así que con todo esto a mano, la mesa estuvo servida para hacer un montón de fotografías de paisajes repletos de elementos diversos en primer plano.

ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape v3.7
NOTA TÉCNICA ADICIONAL: Fotografias capturadas con mi cámara DSLR Nikon D7000 en formato RAW, procesadas posteriormente en Adobe Camera RAW para ajustes relativos a luz, afilado, contraste y profundidad... Luego fueron exportadas a formato JGP sobre el cual se llevaron a cabo modificaciones menores como enderezado y agregado de marcas de agua usando PhotoScape v3.7
