The vertical stance is often used as a metaphor for steadfastness, strength, awakening, and even resistance. Standing straight vertically is an alert stance. This attitude is also used when someone wants to show authority and greatness. Although the vertical direction, as well as the horizontal, is common in life, there are many verticals that appear elegant and eye-catching.
Leaf veins sometimes display vertical lines. The bananas that are still in the bunch are getting bigger to form fruits that are perpendicular to the top. Some fungi show the same thing. The upright fern leaves often inspire ornament makers. One strange plant brings fruits along the vertical stems after all the leaves have fallen.
Vertical is also one of the cloud conditions. It is also the blowout condition of a blowhole on a coastal reef; like a whale blow!
The vertical position is also practiced by many animals. You see a lizard in an upright position glancing at you. Butterflies, dragonflies and various other types of flying insects often perform vertical positions. Spiders are almost always seen in a vertical position with their heads down. A frog hides itself in the bark of a banana tree. The direction of its body follows the direction of the banana tree; vertical. A hermit is seen climbing a tree. Its body is in a vertical position.
It's also common for you to see vertical black lines in a cat's eye. One thing that may rarely be seen is the eyes that are vertically upright as in some types of crabs that live in beach sand.
You will also often see irons that are made vertically. But, a bird feather falling and getting stuck in a vertical position in a spider's web, perhaps, is a sight that cannot be seen every day.
These are gorgeous verticals, I think, and I hope these pictures are fun!
