As the eyes are the door to the human soul, I suppose the windows and the doors are the paths to the souls of the house, if such comparison is possible to make. But hey, why not?
Does the eyes of those houses look empty? Once upon a time, there was love and life inside those homes and under those old roofs.
There is still much beauty even in the decay of these buildings as that process makes them unique in its own way...

Favorite topic! People's lives. Their joys and sorrows gathered under one roof. Then the animate entities in the house disappear. And only it remains. With some obituaries on the door and empty, broken windows.
