I have a friend who does CrossFit, and a few days ago they had an exhibition event at their gym. Since he knows I like to take all kinds of photos, he invited me to take some photos of him during his round.
The event was basically a friendly pairs competition (2 vs 2), and they had to complete all the exercises before the other team to win.
Tengo un amigo que entrena crossfit y hace unos dias hicieron un evento de exhibicion en su gimnasio y como sabe que me gusta hacer todo tipo de fotos me invitó para que le hiciera algunas fotos mientras hacia su ronda.
El evento fue basicamente una competencia amistosa de parejas (2 vs 2) y tenian que hacer todos los ejercicios antes que el otro equipo para ganar.
The truth is, that sandbag weighed a lot, and it wasn't easy to lift it over their heads. The fact that everything was against the clock (to beat the other team) made it much harder since they practically didn't stop to rest, and in a very short time, they started to get tired, and their faces began to change. You could tell they were putting in a lot of effort.
La verdad es que ese saco de arena pesaba muchisimo y no era nada facil levantarlo por encima de la cabeza y el hecho que todo fuera a contra reloj (para poder ganarle al otro equipo) hacia todo mucho mas dificil ya que practicamente no se detenian a descansar y en muy poco tiempo se fueron cansando y sus caras comenzaron a cambiar, se notaba que estaban haciendo mucho esfuerzo.
After that, they went up to the bar to do pull-ups, and as I said, everything is against the clock. If they stopped to rest, the other team would gain an advantage!
Despues se subieron a la barra a hacer dominadas y como les dije, todo es a contra reloj, si se detenian a descansar entonces el otro equipo agarraba ventaja!
But obviously, it was impossible to do it without stopping for at least 30 seconds to catch their breath.
Pero obviamente era imposible hacerlo sin detenerse al menos 30 segundos a recuperar un poco la respiracion.
At this point in the competition, the opposing team had already finished their round and had won.
A este punto de la competencia, el equipo contrario ya habia terminado su ronda y ya habian ganado.
Now, all that was left was the pride of finishing the entire set, something super difficult since, as you can see in their faces, their bodies couldn't take any more!
Ahora simplemente quedaba el orgullo de poder terminar todo el set, algo super dificil ya que como podran ver en las caras, sus cuerpos no podian mas!
The whole crowd was shouting at them not to give up and supporting them to continue until the end!
Todo el publico les gritaba que no se rindieran y los apoyaban para que continuaran hasta el final!
They were warriors and managed to finish the entire set of exercises in less than 16 minutes!
Fueron unos guerreros y lograron terminar todo el set de ejercicios en menos de 16 minutos!
But it wasn't easy. My friend really gave it his all, and his body reached its limit. When he finished, he could barely breathe and had to lie down. He said he felt very bad.
Pero no fue tan facil, mi amigo realmente dió el todo por el todo y su cuerpo llegó al extremo, cuando terminó apenas podia respirar y se tuvo que acostar, dijo que se sentia muy mal.
We gave him a banana and Gatorade to help him recover. The discomfort lasted almost an hour, and in the end, he recovered and was able to go home proud of himself.
