Hello, friends from #blackandwhite
Almost every weekend I have a drink with a few friends and we end up talking about photography. Honestly, the first hour is the one that really matters; after that, once the beer kicks in, it’s all nonsense. But at least in that first moment some really interesting topics come up.
For example, in my photos I really like to highlight the shadows—but it wasn’t always like that. It’s something that has developed little by little in my walks through the streets. Also, Havana in the early hours of the day leans toward very strong shadows, something typical of its colonial architecture.
These snapshots 📸 are my submission for the #monomad challenge by @monochromes and @brumest.
I no longer walk as much as I did months ago; now I just look for a spot with the shadows I like, and then I wait calmly for someone to pass by and give me what I’m looking for.
I also love having a subject in shadow in the foreground, and then everything in the background bathed in light.
Not every reflection has something that attracts me, but every now and then I come across an element that catches my attention.

As always, the cars can’t be overlooked.
With time, you develop a very personal taste and learn to truly enjoy the results. In my case, I have a soft spot for shadows—there’s something in them that hits me right in the chest, as my conceptual photography teacher says.

Hola, amigos de #blackandwhite.
Casi siempre los fines de semana tomo algo con algunos amigos y hablamos de fotografía; en realidad, la primera hora es la que interesa; ya después, con el efecto de la cerveza, es puras tonterías, pero al menos en ese primer momento salen a relucir cuestiones muy interesantes. Cómo por ejemplo, que en mis fotos me gusta mucho hacer notar las sombras, pero antes no era así, eso ha sido paulatinamente en mi andar callejero, también que La Habana en las primeras horas todo apunta a sombras muy fuertes propio de la arquitectura colonial.
Ya no suelo caminar tanto como hacía meses atrás, solo busco el lugar con las sombras que me gustan y alli espero con calma pase alguien que me dé lo que ando buscando.
También me encantan que haya un sujeto en sombra en primer plano y después todo al final con luz.
No en todos los reflejos hay cuestiones que me atraigan, pero de forma esporádica encuentro algún elemento que me llama la atención.
Un perro chino dándose su baño de vitamina D. 🤣😉.
Como siempre, los autos no se pueden pasar por alto.
Con el tiempo uno va adquiriendo un gusto muy personal y aprende a disfrutar mucho de los resultados; en mi caso, tengo predilección por las sombras, hay algo en ellas que me tocan el pecho como dice mi profesor de fotografía conceptual.
