Hello family, how are you? Today I'm bringing you a different series, a topic that affected us all. The pandemic. Despite being a few years where we had to be captive, for me they were moments of reunion and reflection, as they say, a happy face.
"Windows: Escape and Refuge from the Pandemic"
Photography, like literature, music, and so many cultural manifestations, has the ability to tell a story. Hence, during the long and necessary confinement resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, I dedicated myself to investigating, through the lens, a generic escape point that would allow me to discover or intuit what was happening inside other domestic spaces outside of those I was experiencing.
There are multiple definitions that various dictionaries give to the window, and it is difficult to list them all here. I'll take one of them: "An opening made at a certain height from the ground in a wall or wall that serves to provide lighting and ventilation inside a building; it generally consists of a fixed frame that fits and is secured in the masonry space, and one or more fixed or movable leaves..." The Covid-19 pandemic gave it a lighting and ventilation function that was later transformed into a different kind of work.
This search, the domestic interior of the subject other, gradually developed into a photography project that took shape, ultimately, with various forms of representation of the phenomenon during the second wave of the coronavirus, the agent that transmits the disease. However, I found it an excellent motivation to use windows as a symbol and element of contact for reflection on the other, just when humanity was being threatened by an invisible and common enemy.
Each window holds its own story and a way of looking at the world. During this long period of confinement forced upon us by the pandemic, windows took on a vital role, taking on new functions: door, balcony, barrier, (remote) link to receive food and medicine, (distant) meeting point with healthcare or research staff, space to combat the boredom of adults or the restlessness of children, reflection or portrait of the mood of their inhabitants.
Some carry with them solidarity, collective resistance, applause of support for those who became essential, or those looks of hope. While others have been a mirror of an infinite burden of sadness, uncertainty, worry, and loneliness. For those windows that were unfortunately closed, I leave a place in silence.
With the black and white images, I intend to convey a sense of emptiness, sadness, and loneliness; but also hope to spread love and security, not germs. Seeing the brightness of color through the window can lift our spirits.
With this series, I pay tribute to that space of home architecture that also helped protect us from a pandemic.

Hola familia como están, hoy les traigo una serie diferente, un tema que nos afectó a todos La Pandemia, a pesar de ser unos años donde tuvimos que estar en cautiverio, para mi fueron momentos de reencuentro y reflexión, como dicen a mal tiempo buena cara.
“Las ventanas, escape y refugio frente a la Pandemia”
La fotografía, como la literatura, la música y tantas manifestaciones culturales, tiene la capacidad de contar una historia. De ahí que durante el largo y necesario confinamiento producto de la pandemia de la COVID-19, me dediqué a investigar, a través del lente, un punto de escape genérico que me permitiera descubrir o intuir lo que ocurría en el interior de otros espacios domésticos ajenos a los que yo experimentaba.
Múltiples son las definiciones que diversos diccionarios otorgan a la Ventana, difícil resulta enunciarlos todos aquí, tomo una de ellas: “Abertura practicada a cierta altura del suelo en un muro o pared que sirve para proporcionar iluminación y ventilación en el interior de una edificación; generalmente consta de un marco fijo que queda ajustado y asegurado en el hueco de albañilería, y de una o varias hojas, fijas o móviles…”. Función de iluminación y ventilación a la que la pandemia de la Covid 19 le otorgó otros oficios.
Esta búsqueda, el interior doméstico del sujeto otro, se fue convirtiendo en un proyecto fotográfico que tomó cuerpo, a fin, con varias formas de representación del fenómeno durante la segunda ola del coronavirus, agente trasmisor de la enfermedad. Sin embargo, me resultó una excelente motivación utilizar las ventanas como símbolo y elemento de contacto para la reflexión en torno al otro, justo cuando la humanidad estaba siendo amenazada por un enemigo invisible y común.
Cada ventana guarda su propia historia y una manera de mirar el mundo. En ese largo periodo de encierro a que nos obligó la pandemia, las ventanas adquirieron un protagonismo esencial, sumando nuevas funciones: puerta, balcón, barrera, enlace (a distancia) para recibir fundamentalmente alimentos y medicamentos, punto de encuentro (lejano) con el personal de la salud o de la pesquisa, espacio contra el aburrimiento de los adultos o la inquietud de los infantes, reflejo o retrato del estado de ánimo de sus habitantes.
Algunas llevan consigo la solidaridad, la resistencia colectiva, el aplauso de apoyo a los que se volvieron imprescindibles o esas miradas de esperanza. Mientras otras, han sido espejo de una carga infinita de tristeza, incertidumbre, preocupaciones y soledad. Para esas ventanas que lamentablemente se cerraron, les dejo un lugar en el silencio.
Pretendo con las imágenes en blanco y negro trasmitir percepción de vacío, tristeza, soledad; pero también la esperanza para difundir el amor, la seguridad, no los gérmenes. Ver el brillo del color a través de la ventana nos puede levantar el ánimo.
Con la serie “rindo homenaje” a ese espacio de la arquitectura hogareña que también ayudó a protegernos de un fenómeno pandémico.
