While I was driving a friend home yesterday and changing radio stations, I heard a tune that brought be back to my high school years, and one I hadn't heard in ages. It shares its name with the post's title, by a band called The Beach Boys.
Good vibrations is actually a perfect way to describe the general vibe of these guys; and of course, after the quick trip down memory lane, my mind wondered to the first thing that comes to mind when I hear this group:

Beaches!
I'm one of the lucky ones that lives nearby them, so can't really say I miss them. But I do miss dragging my feet on the sand, on a warm summer day... preferably in a tropical paradise.

Now yes, those are worthy memories for a #monomad challenge.
There something about beaches and sun that calm the mind, unless the beach is so crowded that it resembles an outdoor mall. Even a crowded peak is bearable.
If I can, I escape the crowded beaches and run for the quieter ones; one of the reasons why I seldom go to the nearer beaches: being urban beaches, as the temperature rises 1ºC locals and tourists alike rush to the sand.

Give me a secluded beach anytime; the more luxurious vegetation nearby, the better (and if there are large numbers of wild animals too, even better!).
Fortunately, Portugal is a small country, and even though is not a tropical country, there's no shortage of stunning beaches, almost desert, just a couple hours drive from home. Rough seas most of the time, true; nevertheless, still perfect.
Oddly enough, while reviewing these photos, only two of them came from Portugal, and of those two, neither is from continental Portugal. Which ones are they, I'll let you try and find out. One is pretty easy and is a much sought vacation destination (and it's easy to see why!); the other one is tricker. Do you risk a guess? ;)
In a little bit more than a month, I'll be creating more memories of portuguese beaches, hopefully with warm sunny weather... can't wait. And who knows, maybe I'll feature them in a future #monomad post!
