An afternoon at the Estrugamou . - #monomad

We went to spend the afternoon in a place full of history. We find a magnificent empty palace, full of memories, even full of ghosts. With surprising corners.
Anyone passing through the corner of Salta and Carlos Calvo, in the city of Buenos Aires, will be struck by a powerful building that completely embraces it and extends along both streets with a façade of great elegance; hence they call it a palace.
The Estrugamou Palace was the residence of the Estrugamou family between 1905 and 1932. It was commissioned by Pedro Estrugamou, to the architect Luis Rocca. It was made with materials brought from Europe to create a property that is a faithful exponent of eclecticism, with influence of the baroque.
In 1902, Pedro Estrugamou, who had seven children, bought two properties on which he built this two-story house with a terrace, mezzanines and basement.
The property as a whole had various uses throughout history. In the 1940s it was sold by the family and later functioned as a transit home for single mothers. In 2007, its current owners, an English family, acquired it with the intention of creating a tango academy, but then they backed out of the project. Between 2013 and 2014 it was practically uninhabited.
Currently, some of its rooms are empty and others are rented to tourists. But it is also used as a movie filming set and in our case as a location for a photographic production with a dancer.
