The photos 📸 are my entry to the #monomad contest from @monochromes and @brumest.
Hello, black and white community.
I recently acquired a new lens for my camera from a friend who gave it to me very cheaply. A vintage 1960's specimen that was in very poor condition, but that has never stopped me. Many photographers love to say that these old warriors are better than the modern ones, that they have character and personality, that they are a forgotten marvel. I include myself. But I think the reality is that in Cuba it is very difficult to obtain new and good quality equipment. That's why we turn with a lot of enthusiasm to these crystals of several decades of manufacture.
After cleaning it, lubricating it well and adjusting the focus, I set out to test the result of my work. The first to be targeted was Smurf, faithful friend, and his inseparable friend, Waste. We talked about the names in another post. 😁 Then appeared through the portal the smallest of our community, little Sheyla, who only a few weeks ago did not know how to walk and already runs like crazy. With the curiosity inherent in children, she looked straight ahead at the dogs and they at her, as if exploring what new critter had appeared. And, well, of course, it all got recorded.
I don't expect too much from this little series, but I must say it gives me great satisfaction when I bring these old kits back to life. Warriors that still have a lot to say.
I hope you like the pictures, I'll read you in the comments!

Hola, comunidad blanco y negro.
Yo me incluyo.

Gracias hermano. Reviviendo antiguos guerreros. 🙏💪
Thanks a lot 🙏🙏🙏
Which lens is it? Old things are often even better for creative work!
You are absolutely right. I'm in several restoration projects right now, this one in the post is the nikkor 55 f1.2 one I had been looking for a while but they are still a bit expensive today when in good condition. I already restored a 105mm f2.5 and now I'm cleaning up a 135mm f 2.8 and a Helios 44 a Soviet gem. I will be putting them in the posts. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Oh, cool! I used to have a 55/1.2, some call them the Night Owl.
Also I did some of what you do in the early to mid nineties, clearing up & lubricating lenses. Its not too hard, unless you happen to undo the matched adjustment on a 35mm 2.0 Canon where the front lens is floating, moving more than the rest of the groups hehe...
Some of the Soviet stuff like the Helios is very popular, there are also some rare ones that actually sell well on Ebay.
I have some Nikon/Nikkor stuff around here, but lost my very cheap but good 85mm 2.0, turns out that mice had made a nest on top of it! That is what happens when the world shuts down, making it impossible to travel haha...
Good luck over there, maybe you can slowly advance to doing real CLAs for payment! There are not very many who have the reputation & experienced for that world wide, we certainly need new people... :-)
