Hail to the Hive!
Today I awoke to a crisp cold but clear day and decided to take a stroll up the Hatton Flight of locks, which are currently closed for repairs during the winter season. We are moored just around the bend from the bottom lock. We have been up and down the, once before since we started our adventure aboard Badger the Narrowboat, but can not progress any further this way at the moment.
As I walked along the tow path My eyes fell upon some of the old machinery and mechanisms I don’t look at too often as we don’t tend to use them. The sun was setting behind one of the mechanisms that controls water by oassing the canal and I was just struck by yhe juxtaposition of vintage engineering and natures sunset and thought to myself. “ how beautiful “
So I immediately set about traversing the lock gates , which were inoperable at the moment, and wandered down to the sleuce gate control to get a closer look.
The skies were clear and the sun was setting. The sound of the water running through the by wash was in my ears, the sunset was in my eyes. I felt like a child again. Exploring places on my own. In the moment. Relaxed. Happy.
I was doing both video and photography on the walk but with this i got lost in the monochrome moment as i kind of intuitively knew what i was doing with these shots.
