Hail to the Hive!
On a whim I decided to join a mate of mine as he ran an errand to enquire about hiring a van and on the way I spotted what I thought was a lovely old building. As my friend went into the office to ask questions i took a stroll to have a look at the building. As I got closer I realised that the lovely old building had sadly been left to rot and was a real mess. Such a shame.
I really hate seeing old buildings left to rot like this as quite often they end up getting demolished to make way for some soulless plain monstrosity and bit by bit the character of a place is slowly eroded and replaced by characterless buildings that lack any charm or beauty.
The possibilities for a building like this boggles the mind. Pub, restaurant, attractive apartments this could easily be a real gem.
It's also been said that from an environmental position it's far better to be re purposing existing buildings than to tear down and build new. So really it's a win win if they are retained. We keep the character and heritage of a place and less environmental impact.
But of course it's easier and cheaper to just knock down and bang up some cheap crap looking building.
Maybe this one will be saved. Imust make a point of taking a look next time i am back in the city

Such a waste. I think one of the reasons they let these old buildings go is upkeep costs. Easier to repair a soulless concrete & glass structure than this beautiful stone & brick building.
