Hail to the Hive!
I've been posting material from aboard Badger the Narrowboat for over 15 months now and I sometimes forget that what is everyday normality for us seems like a dream to others.
I'm not going to sugarcoat it for you guys though because along with all the natural beauty and freedom comes other stuff like toilet emptying, breakdowns, carrying supply shopping for miles back to the boat. It can be quite the challenge and you have to have a different mindset while living this boat life.
Knowing where waterpoints are, garbage facilities and places to moor up the boat. You have to think ahead and sometimes just adapt when things, shall we say, don't exactly go to plan.
Our cooking gas ran out the other morning halfway through cooking the eggs. Luckily @millycf1976 had already made the coffee otherwise it could have been a complete disaster.
I managed to contact a friend to give me a ride to the nearest Marina and got another cylinder and a jerry can of red diesel while I was at it but if we had been away from good friends that would have been a whole days cruising and possiblt a day and a half due to the locks.
That was kind of my fault as I'd put off getting the second gas bottle swapped out on the way in as I thought we'd have time.....we didn't ooops.
Do any of you think you could live on a narrowboat? Adapt to the cramped space, the slow pace of travel. The awkward logistics for water and waste.

One thing I have learnt from you and other narrow boat YouTubers is to always keep things topped up ) use the facilities wherever possible. Water Elsan diesel etc.
At least Milly had made the coffee, that would have been a disaster otherwise 😂
It's my fault we've delayed leaving the area by more than a month otherwise we'd have grabbed a gas bottle on the way out and had a spare. All good though had a mate give me a lift and we're cooking with gas again yipeee
Good thing you had a mate nearby:)
Hello dear friend @scubahead good day
Although I love freedom and I would love to live on a boat and after reading the experience of people like you, I am not sure that I can adapt to such a life.
you are admirable dear friend
I appreciate you sharing your life experience
have a beautiful afternoon
