#MONOMAD CHALLENGE Riding in Style: The 1959 Cadillac That Sailed the Highways with Power and Grace

#Monomad Challenge

My father and his brothers had an affinity for some of the most exquisite automobiles of our era, with the Cadillac being a model proudly owned by each of the five brothers who collectively managed both a farm and a farm equipment business.

caddy-.jpgThis car was nearly fully restored, representing an exceptional piece of Cadillac's golden age, about 90% complete. The 1959 model was renowned for its imposing chrome grill and bumpers, along with its distinctive headlight and tail light designs.

These vehicles were notably large and inevitably turned heads on the road. I had the pleasure of riding in it several times, experiencing its smooth journey along the highways. It boasted a robust 390 cubic inch engine with 325 horsepower, making it a true powerhouse of its time. To this day, these models remain in high demand among collectors.

They don't make them like that any more. We don't see them much over here, but when we do they look out of place. The old American cars just look huge, but they are from a time of cheap oil. Now people seem to go for huge SUVs. Both are a danger to others. I quite like small cars and have had a few.

There was a lot of metal in these beasts, still see them out here from time to time but as with the UK we in Canada like our huge SUV's.

Not too many huge SUVs here, but I saw a lot in the US.
