Han sido innumerables las fotógrafas y fotógrafos a lo largo de la historia los que han implantado un sello distintivo en la fotografía en blanco y negro desde el más exquisito tratamiento técnico, pero además de las distintas temáticas, no puede evitar sobresalir el tema del retrato y el cuerpo humano como centro en este tipo de fotografía, debido también entre otras cosas, por la textura sobre la piel y los diversos efectos de la luz sobre los cuerpos.

Por eso es muy llamativa la fotografía en blanco y negro, por ese tratamiento clásico y contundente que da esta estética, y que se seguirá trabajando por siempre independientemente de la evolución del color. En este sentido hoy quiero compartir algunas fotografías mías en blanco y negro que, salvando las distancias con los clásicos, estas tratan de revelar más aún de lo que podamos ver de cada una de esas personas, y el punto de vista que más nos puede comunicar sobre ellas, como es recurrente en mi trabajo.

There have been innumerable female and male photographers throughout history who have implanted a hallmark in black and white photography from the most exquisite technical treatment, but in addition to the different themes, the subject of portrait and the human body as the center in this type of photography, also due, among other things, to the texture on the skin and the various effects of light on the bodies.

That is why black and white photography is very striking, for that classic and forceful treatment that this aesthetic gives, and that work will continue forever regardless of the evolution of color. In this sense, today I want to share some of my black and white photographs that, bridging the gap with the classics, try to reveal even more than what we can see of each of these people, and the point of view that can communicate the most to us. about them, as is recurrent in my work.

Los retratos en cuestión son de personas de diferentes sectores sociales, desde artistas, como los músicos, una bailarina, una modelo, una amiga periodista, y quien les habla, que es uno de mis primeros autorretratos cuando empezaba a conocerme mejor frente a la cámara, pero de ese tema les hablaré más adelante debido a que lo he seguido haciendo. Y aunque sean diferentes personas en esta serie las une el tratamiento visual del blanco y negro para contarnos algo desde sus lados oscuros también y con cierta potencia dado por el contraste, el elemento más importante, y por supuesto que para ello influye del todo la intensidad y dirección de la luz, apoyando además el volumen de la figura.

The portraits in question are of people from different social sectors, from artists, such as musicians, a dancer, a model, a journalist friend, and who speaks to them, which is one of my first self-portraits when I began to get to know myself better in front of the camera , but I will talk about that topic later because I have continued to do so. And although they are different people in this series, they are united by the visual treatment of black and white to tell us something from their dark sides as well, and with a certain power given by the contrast, the most important element, and of course, intensity has a great influence on this. and direction of light, also supporting the volume of the figure.

El blanco y negro al ser la ausencia de color, y acentuar el contraste, nos llama la atención al cambiarnos la percepción sobre cualquier elemento habitual y es aquí donde refuerza más el mensaje y es lo que trato de aprovechar en mi trabajo.

Black and white, being the absence of color, and accentuating the contrast, draws our attention by changing our perception of any habitual element and this is where it reinforces the message the most and is what I try to take advantage of in my work.
