Hello, lovers of God
We had a Sunday school class in my church and we read this bible passage, Ephesians 2:10 which says;
Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
While the class was going on, this question was lingering in my mind, so I asked the question, and this was the question, "What are the good works Jesus Christ created us for"? The response I got from my Sunday teacher was that the question is deep and can't be exhausted for a day. He asked me to share what was my thoughts, and I mentioned that the good works could be preaching the gospel and healing the sick, and he said good ones, but they are secondary good works.
I wasn't satisfied. I came back home, and I decided to do my study, and I got this beautiful answer that satisfied my spirit.
First, Jesus Christ came to show mankind love, through the cross. He died and shed his blood on the cross. This was a sign of love he showed to us.
Love
Love was the outstanding character he showed to humanity. I see you the scripture in the Book of Matthew
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’
Jesus Christ loved us, and he wants us to Him with our heart, soul, and mind, and when we love God, we will be able to love others.
So, the first good work is for us to love. Remember, it is a command that we should do that.
Showing compassion
Lamentations 3:22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
Lamentations 3:23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
Remember, the bible says that anywhere he went, he was doing good. He showed compassion to the Samaritan woman when she came to draw water from the well. We all know the story. Jesus knew everything about her and had compassion for her, and she repented, and she went into the city and preached the good news. This is the good work God wants us to walk in. Not just saying but moving into action.
When you can exhibit or reflect on these characters to the people around you. You will be able to share the gospel with ease
Preaching the Gospel
Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit,
Matthew 28:20 teaches them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
This is another great commission. Preaching the Gospel of Christ, making it known to people, he died, buried, and resurrected for the sake of mankind. Just to tell people, Jesus loves you. And we to spread this news with love and compassion. From preaching salvation comes, healing, deliverance, breakthrough, and many good things.
When we can carry out these responsibilities as believers, we will be able to live a righteous life that will inspire others to follow Christ.
These are the few works we are called to do as believers. Living out a Christ-like character to the world.
