RE: Is $WEN a Buy? Not Until Revenue and Stock Momentum Return

in TradFi5 days ago

I see fast food as not worth holding long term even for the top of category. Much better plays for the long term. Wendy’s is a sad story. Dave Thomas is turning in his grave.

Sort:

Well McD and Starbucks are quite successful in that area but also they are struggling the past years. Question is who will make a comeback? Currently I would not bet on $WEN but let’s wait for Friday earnings. Maybe they surprise everyone.

Mcdonalds Yes indeed. Starbucks? Not lately. Look at 5 year chart.
No growth. Just riding below a high made in 2021. Also in USA they are closing stores left & right past two years. They over expanded massively and now in my area closed 3 stores out of 11 within 15 miles.
It’s not limited to my area in California or New York City, where many closed. It’s nation wide. China they are down also. They are not in good shape.

You are right, $SBUX is struggling more. A lot. But on a 2-3 decade timeframe its still up massively.

But it won’t repeat this. This was hyper growth in the nineties & 2000’s. Now stores closing and serious issues. Would be extremely foolish to bet on Starbucks here. Over saturated to extreme. Decades ago it was opposite.

Well. I didn’t say I would bet on them now, just that they were a huge success the past few decades.

I kinda agree with your point of view.

It seems to me to be a relatively fragile (and not very profitable) type of investment.
