Is it wrong that the time I was looking forward to most of all was not the awards night, the possibility of getting on stage, of being told 'Hey good job' of spending time with the people I work with, but rather it was the next morning when I would get up early, quickly throw some clothes one, grab a camera and walk from the hotel we see Sydney in the early morning light.
I had calculated the day before which buildings were East facing, which would be warms by the perfect Autumnal light. Knew which ones were interesting, which had some history, something to tell me, dirt in all the right places.
Not the scene you normally see of Sydney, not a Bridge or an Opera House in sight, no beaches, no cliff, just the skinny streets on the south inner west. A place once forgotten now valued.
The places were the art deco influences were present, almost a hundred year ago these were cutting edge, trying to lure people here, now shuttered looking for it's next incarnation.
For someone to understand what they have, how it can be used, embraced.
