Last Friday, February 23, 2024, was a day marked by the exquisite blend of nostalgia, pride, and entertainment as we gathered at the Bacolod City College Activity Center to celebrate the 10th year anniversary of the SATE. It was an event that promised a night filled with artistic brilliance and did not disappoint.
From the moment I walked into the venue, the air was electric with excitement. The activity center, usually a venue for academic and co-curricular activities, was transformed into a magnificent stage where the creativity of the College of Education students would soon unfold. The lights dimmed, and the spotlight focused on the center stage, indicating the start of a memorable night.
The evening's program was a showcase of literary performances that ranged from character impersonation and creative dance to theatrical dance and lip-sync battles. It was heartening to see the talent that the College of Education of Bacolod City College has nurtured over the years.
One of the most captivating segments was the character impersonation. Students took to the stage, embodying characters from literature and pop culture, with performances so nuanced and convincing it felt as if those characters had stepped right out of their stories and onto the stage in Bacolod City. The attention to detail in costumes and the actors’ dedication to their roles highlighted not only their talent but the rigorous preparation behind the scenes.
Creative dance performances, always a crowd favorite, were exceptionally moving this year. It was evident that each choreography told a story, communicated a message, or portrayed emotions that words could not capture. The fluidity of movement and the synchronization of the performers were mesmerizing, illustrating the many hours of practice devoted to perfecting each gesture.
The theatrical dance segments brought narratives to life through dance, blending the elements of storytelling and choreographed movement beautifully. Each performance was a unique interpretation of themes ranging from love and conflict to joy and despair. Watching these young artists express complex narratives through dance was a testament to their creativity and understanding of the art form.

Leaving the Bacolod City College Activity Center that night, I felt a renewed appreciation for the arts and the young talents who pour their hearts and souls into their craft.
