You can call me diligent or slippery, but I was one student who avoided punishments with all my might. Ninety-nine percent of the punishments I did were always group punishments. For those who don't know about it, group punishments are fun irrespective of how intense they are. There's this amazing feeling that surrounds group punishments; you know that you're not alone in this world:)
I was one very lucky girl as I always had school mothers who were ready to bail me out of any punishment. In my final year in highschool, I got into trouble and had no one to bail me out this time.tch.
It was four days after our final year exams (waec) and for some reason, school authorities didn't want to let us go home. Staying in school was very boring. It was this period that I realised that we owe it to ourselves to be happy. We can create happiness from the littlest of things.
Since it was only the final year students in school,we had the liberty to do whatever we wanted–inside our hostel. After we had breakfast that morning, we all went inside our different hostels. I was discussing with two of my friends who came to my corner ( a corner is where all your belongings and bunks are in a hostel). My corner was very spacious in comparison to my mates own because I stayed at the end of the room.
From chit chatting, we started drumming. It was just like a regular thing. From the onset, I've always loved music and so did my friends. From drumming, we started singing. Hehe. It was all fun.
On like other days, people started joining us. I don't know what happened but everyone was very happy; maybe because we were done with exams.
From the three people who started this karaoke, there were five, then twelve and eventually, I lost count. My corner was packed! We kept singing cellular songs joyfully till madam Badoo came in.
Madam Badoo is ahhh!. She's one lady who doesn't condone nonsense. She also had a very bad temper.
As madam Badoo walked in, everyone varnished. I don't know how they did it, but they did. Before I could think of escaping, she called me and the rest of the people who didn't have fast reflexes to escape on time. She ordered that we all got on our knees.
Ps: not all of my mates joined in this karaoke
She sent one of the girls who didn't join in the karaoke to fetch the other girls from their hiding spots. It's like this girl was so happy to do this job as she went out and came back with literally everyone else who thought they escaped. I was giggling within myself as everything was just so funny and abrupt.
Where we got it all wrong
In all the excitement, I failed to take into consideration the fact that my corner was very close to the principal's house. So the noise was evidently disturbing her. Till this day, I'm grateful that it wasn't the principal who came to punish us, else, we probably would have been told to mop the Atlantic ocean dry.
Madam Badoo kept ranting about how immature and recalcitrant we all were. I kept maintaining an innocent face with puppy dog eyes. She pointed at me and said;
"You!. You want to feel among. You feel you can belong in this geng when you should be setting an example for the rest to follow. Yati yata"
My mates who knew that I was the one behind all this drama were throwing glances at me. I didn't budge,hehe. I didn't exactly blame the woman for saying all those as I had a very good reputation in highschool.
After all the rant and motivational talk, she distributed different punishments to us. I, alongside three other girls, were asked to scrub the dining hall before lunch. We had roughly three hours to scrub this dining hall. It's worthy to note that on a normal day, twenty-five to thirty girls would scrub a dining hall in three hours but we did it! Three of us scrubbed the fluffing dining hall in three hours. How we did it, I still don't know.
This punishment was quite unforgettable because it was the last punishment I did before I left highschool, coupled with the fact that it was something I loved doing that got me into trouble in the first place.

That must have been really fun but the punishment was quite harsh, lol! It's great to read this experience of yours. The fact that it happened because you did something you love is a consolation. Ms Badoo just didn't appreciate it :)

When you start doing what makes you happy e.g singing, in order to prevent boredom and while away time, one of your dreaded teacher will just come out from no where and spoil show. And won't let it slide without letting you know how irresponsible you've behaved 😂😂😂.
